Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Shipped a package for a trade from Florida to California. Shipped it Monday, 2-11, and it was scheduled for delivery the following Monday 2-18. On Tuesday, 2-12, the package left a main UPS hub in Jacksonville still showing delivery the next Monday 2-18. No updates on the UPS site all week through Friday and still showing delivery Monday 2-18. I figured this was no big deal and that the package was on a semi trailer heading to the West Coast so there where no additional scans to update. This morning, Saturday there are still no updates or additional information but it now shows as scheduled delivery for Tuesday 2-26. WTF no explanation but delivery date has been moved to over 1 week later. I have already received my package, thanks @Rustytacos, but am concerned about the package I sent since I have never seen anything like this before.
Thanks for the heads up, I just checked right now and yup, an extra week. I was just reading someone else had a problem with ups where ups opened the package and found the alcohol in it. Said they couldn't ship it and now he doesn't know what to do. Hopefully its not the same deal but because we traded bottles(stouts) an extra week shouldn't make a difference. This should be interesting.
It's possible that the changed delivery date is an automatic thing their system does when there hasn't been a new scan in x number of days. All of these shippers have a black hole at their center that can consume packages and return them in odd times and places. When I worked at a fedex ware house there was a large bathroom sized cage room that housed mystery packages. Many of them had inadvertently been misdirected somewhere along their route and discovered at our base. A manager would sort through them when they had spare time and I'm sure from the tracking perspective they would just disappear after being scanned leaving and then pop back up in orange county some week or two later. Have you called UPS to see what they think is going on?
Haven't called. If something doesn't change by Monday I will try to get some answers. I hope it is not a permanent "black hole" because I was shipping some very good, limited, club member only beers that would be very hard to replace.
I was thinking boxes would possibly delay with the holiday, but maybe UPS and Fedex stay delivering on the 18th.
Well it is in San Francisco but just updated again. "Delivery has been rescheduled due to holiday closures. / Your delivery has been rescheduled for the next business day. " This is odd as UPS does deliver on President's Day. The recipient has not indicated that the business address it is to be delivered to is closed.
Latest tracking "Out for delivery today" . Looks like all is OK and only 1 day late. Never had any tracking change like this though.
Everything arrived, thanks for keeping in touch with the shipping and communication. Ups guy said it just happens sometimes regarding the delivery status snafu. Drivers don't know shit he said, it's the sorters or the people behind the scenes.
