FedEx is cheaper and for me they always deliver in the morning. Plus they deliver on Saturdays.

When I get boxes from UPS, I almost never get them before 5:00pm

They are designated as padded paks. The large ones work great for wrapping bottles of all sizes.

I always use FedEx as they are cheaper, faster and have better customer service in my experiences.

I do that with my Fedex online account all the time. Sometimes the person I drop the box off with weighs it, sometimes they don't.

I've used both but like FedEx better. They've got cheaper rates, deliver on Saturdays and they can hold your shipment at your local FedEx location if you're not home to sign for it.

I've tried that--even by only shaving off a couple of pounds--and I get e-mails a week or two later about how they adjusted the charges to my card to reflect the actual weight.

I've used both but have been using UPS much more because it's more convenient...

    Cheers!

I was just drinking thinking earlier today about starting this same thread (except it would be "Why would anyone use UPS over FedEx!!!"). How convenient!

I have never had a bad experience with FedEx, and have had multiple with UPS. I took a screen shot on my iPhone of it for proof (don't have access to post it right now) where my package was at the distribution center on a Tuesday and it sat there for TWO DAYS before being loaded on a truck for delivery. Very irritating.

    My $0.02.

When you look in the "order supplies" section of the site, they're called "FedEx Padded Paks"(part number 139380). You order them in increments of 25; I've heard anecdotal evidence of problems if you order more than 25 at a time, so I stick to one box.

UPS all the way. The only package I've sent that came back damaged was delivered by FedEx. I thought I'd save a dollar or two by setting up an account and I liked the Saturday delivery option. Never again, so not worth it when you get an exception, that and I pass by two UPS stores to get to one FedEx.

I started using FedEX exclusively because it is a lot cheaper for me in Iowa. They did lose a box with 2 King Henry, FBS, and some Hopslam in it a month or so back.

Like many others, I always ship with FedEx, merely because it's slightly cheaper. On the other hand, though, I prefer receiving packages via UPS, because I like my UPS guy. FedEx deliveries are often just dropped (from a few feet up) by my door and left. Never had anything break from either carrier, though.

    I now prefer UPS!
I just had a package stolen by FedEx after they found out it was beer. At first it was "damaged" and my trading partner was told he could come to the FedEx center to pick up. When at FedEx the manager told him he would have to check back the next day because it was beer and they weren't sure what they would have to do with it. The next day the package went from "slightly damaged" to it was "completely destroyed, nothing left of it." I am not sure what will happen now... insured package for $100, but not sure since there was beer in the package that I will get any of that back. I will try and submit a claim for "collectible glassware" as I had also included some glassware as extras...

Anybody have any experiences dealing with them after they "destroy" your package, but know there was beer in it?

IMO, FedEx is a day quicker and cheaper. I always insure package for 100+ incase package is intercepted so I am compensated. I have never lost a package or had a package destroyed. Once a Bells Eccentric Ale leaked, that is all. I usually add something to box if "glugging" is apparent like mac n chz, pennies in a container, etc. I did have a package held at UPS because I was shipping beer to Canada, but that is it.

P.S. Create your own FedEx account and print your own labels so there are no questions asked at the store or HUB.

If package was insured you are entitled to a check. I have had friends experience this before.

Even if it was flagged as beer? which is against their official policy?

My friends who have experienced similar situations have received a refund everytime an incident has occured. What flagged the package?

I was on the receiving end of the trade with SeaSparrow. The package made it half way across the country, only to be destroyed at my local facility. What flagged the package was that they apparently damaged the box enough to have the contents either exposed or leaking. All the manager would say was that when the box was damaged they found out it was beer. I know how well the box was packaged, so whatever happened must have been to the point of ridiculous. While I was sitting in the waiting area I got to witness three different FedEx employees toss and drop packages. Granted, I did not notice "fragile" markings on any of the boxes being handled, but it still made me feel lucky that this was the first one I've lost to this facility.

I prefer fedex, but that is only cost and convenience for me.

With both carriers though, where I work they do pick ups, I see them literally throw them the entire length of the truck. Rather hard also....But this is nothing new, I just make sure to use TONS of bubble wrap and newspaper/plastic bag padding.
