I've shipped FedEx through work. Print a label and have them come pick it up. I have supplies to pack chemical bottles and stuff. Hazmat crap. We receive samples from companies, so I have old boxes and packing stuff.

Put hazmat on it, and they treat it like a baby, and hand deliver that bad boy. The drivers don't question, or care. WIN! It's sloshing around because it's an amine catalyst. Bust it open and it'll tear up anything it leaks on!!

Surely you have to provide more specific information to the carrier when attempting to ship hazardous materials. There are laws in place about how any designated hazardous materials are to be stored and shipped, etc.

Well, not really. They know we ship chemical samples for analysis from time to time, so questions aren't asked. I don't have to input anything into the system when they do a shipping label. I put an MSDS in the box, or have one in the clear envelope sticker on the outside of the box.

I've shipped glycol and polyurethane's out, and while they need MSDS's, they aren't hazmat. This is usually what I ship anyways. They are liquid, so the sloshing and the whole "moving weight" of the packages aren't really noticed, or cared for.

Don't get a package scale.... just estimate by weighing yourself on a normal household scale, and then weighing yourself while holding the package. take a few pounds off to save a few bucks.

sometimes they re-weigh it, but as long as they aren't struggling to pick up a box that says it only weighs 3 pounds you won't have an issue.

I bring mine to Office Max near my house or the Fed Ex distribution building near my work. Haven't had an issue yet. Definitely recommend FedEx and have found them to be consistently cheaper.

why do you need a label printer?? you can just print it on normal paper and put it into the adhesive pouches they provide for free.

So if a package is opened at UPS (they returned it to me), is my account somehow flagged now, or can I just drop it off at another location? I didnt really see any info on this in the thread
