UPS vs. FedEx

    My post was specifically addressing when a shipper designates that a signature is required by the recipient, which is an extra cost. On deliveries where no signature is required, it's often left to the discretion of the driver whether the residence is suitable for a package to be released. We're always taught to look for a safe, dry spot out of view from the street. Granted that's not always adhered to, but that's the baseline most drivers work from.

    I have only used Fedex...all went fine aside from one shipment...sent out a package and one of the cans leaked. Got an "alert" that it was damaged and the next day it showed back up on my doorstep. They had opened the package and wrapped the damaged can and sealed it all back up. I repacked and sent it out again...arrived fine. Two weeks later got a letter from their "legal" department about illegally shipping alcohol. Said I had to response in writing, etc. I just tossed it out. Shipped many boxes after that and never had a problem.
