I am in Alberta and looking to trade for some Jester King, my plan is that the sender will send it to one of the mail receiving places in Montana and i will drive down, pick my package up and drop the package off to be sent back to the person im trading with and head home. My concern is driving into the US with a box of beer addressed for delivery and picking up a box addressed for delivery and driving back into canada being that you cant ship beer. What would you tell border people? Do they care that much? and is it suspicious to bring beer into the US for a one day trip?

Man, I'd just send it through the mail (not ups or FedEx).

    Hi,

I received a package sent from Ontario via Canada's version of the USPS. No issue. It was huge too, like 60lbs.

My suggestion would be to have the package open on the way in so that in case they want to check the contents it won't undo any of your work. You could always mention you pack these up so they won't break in your trunk. Just before mailing seal it up and send it away, bring tape, address labels whatever you need.

Similar approach on the way home, remove all the shipping labels until you're left with beer and packaging. You're likely going to be expected to pay duty however so make sure you have a receipt or something indicating the value of what you're bringing back.

Most importantly be honest and know what your limits are with regards to beer.

I went to one of the top 50 high schools in the US, with heavy emphasis on a lot of geography and learning about vastly different cultures, history, etc. Can't say that I recall ever learning anything about Canada.
