Yeah, but you are our weirdo!

If you choose to accept the mission of conducting a side-by-side I would be interested in reading it. Hopefully you will be able to find a bottle and can of comparable age in the package.

    Cheers!

I'm still waiting for Cantillon in 7-ounce bottles.

Not big on canned Chimay, but I'd take canned Westy if that's the only way I could get it.

We just got a place in town that has a rotating Cantillion tap. It's a nice option to have as opposed to more murkbombs.

I don't even buy it in a bottle. While Chimay makes solid beers, there are similar belgian beers that are as good (or better) at a lower price point.

What Belgian Trappist style beers, at a lower price point, do you prefer?

    Cheers!

Stovepipe cans of Fou' Foune? Fuck me up, that would be an incredible beach beer!

Allagash said they spent quite a bit of time perfecting cans for Allagash White. Could always do a side by side with bottles.

The bottle/can conditioning aspect of Allagash White is discussed in the below video. There is even mention of how bottle/can conditioning helps with beer stability.

    Cheers!

So, is this actually canned in Belgium or is this another item canned at OEC in Connecticut? Not that there's anything wrong with that, but IMO the beers DO taste different.

Since Chimay is imported by Global Beer Network I would presume these beers are canned in Belgium.

    Cheers!

Yes, the label indicates the same.

I did that once… but I did that comparison in opaque glasses for taste, so I didn’t do a visual comparison of haziness (but I did compare differences in head formation). Maybe I’ll try it again at some point and give greater attention to appearance. I don’t put much stock in comparisons that are only done once, but I’ll say that I was much more impressed with the canned Allagash White than I usually am in a can vs bottle comparison. I thought the canned White was great. That might have been a random fluke on my end, or it’s possible that the brewer’s efforts paid off.

Was never an Allagash white fan. I bought a 19.2 almost 2 years ago and it was very good. All my other experience had been bottles. I am now a fan of white. Could it be me? Could it be the can? Never had a draft but a three way comp would be cool to do.

    Enjoy

I like the cans too. I seem to recall on a private tour of Allagash the guide telling me they were going to be coming out soon, but they were really taking their time developing it.

    Perhaps it paid off!

Allagash doesn't distribute in my state. But when next door in Wisconsin, I've had Allagash Curioux and LOVE that beer.

Saw the cans had arrived freshly at a local store. Pretty attractive can.
