    Hey guys,

My partner and I are going on a USA Craft Beer Trip from Australia.

Would anyone else be keen to join?

    These are the details:

visit New York City, Portland (the home of the West Coast craft beer phenomena), Sacramento, San Francisco, San Diego & Los Angeles.

Visit Brooklyn Brewery, Sixpoint, Rogue Distillery, Sierra Nevada, Napa Valley, Russian River, Lagunita’s brewery, Stone Brewing, Ballast Point and more.

You will also visit the Fresh Hops Craft Beer Festival in Portland, an annual craft beer festival.

The price includes all international and internal flights, activities, transport, some meals and all accommodation included for only 8k. We think the price is pretty good considering the exchange rate and everything thats included.

Would anyone from BA Aust. or NZ be keen to join in??

I must say, very impressive itinerary! Sadly I can't join ya'll, but I can guarantee you will have a blast! I went to college in Chico, CA, home of Sierra Nevada, and have explored the entire west coast for beer, food and great experiences. Please don't hesitate to ask for recommendations, advice, spots to hit or not and overall good beer advice!

First top tip for you, if you want to visit Alcatraz while in San Fran, you must order your tickets online months in advance! Very easy to do, but they sell out months prior to day of tour!

Thanks very much!! Do you have any recommendations where we can watch the AFL Grand Final in Portland?
The trip was based around the fresh hops fest in Portland, but that means aussies are missing the grand final back home. a few guys on the trip dont want to miss it, would any bars play AFL in the US?

AFL is kind of a cult sport in the US. Used to be on ESPN in the early days of ESPN, then Fox Sports years ago.

Try any decent sports bar in Portland, or if things get really odd try Yardhouse in Portland. Any bar that gets satellite TV should be OK to get it.

Looks like this place hosted a viewing party last year. Worth a shot to see if they have any plans to possibly do it again this year. At the very least they can point you in the right direction. Good luck!

A US craft beer trip isn't complete without going to Vermont imo. It's out of the way (could tack it on to the back of NYC) but Hill Farmstead is where dreams are made of.

If you want a break from the hoppy IPAs and chocolate-infused coffee imperial stouts and you're into German beer styles and decent lagers, or a good Hefeweizen without fruit manditorily tossed in the glass, then Occidental Brewing is worth a stop.

Make sure you go to Deschutes in Portland, excellent food too! 21st Amendment and Magnolia Brewing in San Francisco. If you get to Magnolia (on upper Haight St), walk down the hill to Lower Haight and go to Tornoado's...grungy loud music small bar that will be full of unicorn beers....often claimed as the best beer bar in SF. On Upper Haight, same side of road as Magnolia, just before Golden Gate Park is a big Whole Foods Market...great selection of bottles for your continuing road trip, should find some Russian River and many others. When you visit Chico, CA and go to Sierra Nevada, a great bar with excellent burgers is called The Graduate ("The Grad") with the longest wall of beers I have ever seen! Was one of my favorite places while in college at Chico...oh the memories!!!

Great beers at SF Toronado but worst smelling bathrooms in the history of man. SD version was vast improvement ...

Thanks! Oh my I am SO excited now. We are visiting Sierra Nevada as part of the tour.
I actually met Ken Grossman from Sierra Nevada when he was in Adelaide recently. I showed him this trip and he took some brochures, he said it was so well put together. We are going for a tour of SN with him on the trip.
I am surprised noone from here is keen to join the trip!!
