I love good beer , I like trying new things and enjoy trading for stuff I have for stuff I can't get locally. I am just curious why we all don't use our words. We all know what BAA means, we all know what TH means but LLL although great stuff is not as common. When I look at a FT ISO post I quite often have to stop, think and sometimes Google. Today I was discussing some beers and my discussion included AHTTE. I have always told my children to be precise and use there words so everyone knows what they are trying to say. So why is it we don't just use words?
I think on big-name, annual, collaboration, etc. releases it's not ridiculous to assume that the beer community knows what's coming out of the biggest trading breweries. If you don't know, just ask. Try putting All Hundred Thousand Trillion Everything in your title and see how many characters you have left for other stuff.
I agree and disagree. I think something like BCBS is great, but ILMTR is a little silly when you can just say "Tape Rock." Similarly, no need to abbreviate AHTTE when you could just say Trillion and the name of the brewery. Anyone with it would know. I don't do social media, but I suspect the proliferation of acronyms is a result of social Media /trade whoring/Whalezbro behavior. It's impractical to create a new acronym for everything, and unnecessary, but it adds a level of sophistication/excludability by not everyone knowing what it means. If you don't know, you're not in the know.
Love this thread. I also have to stop and think at a good chunk of acronyms (...like AHTTE...). Often wondered if just making up my own acronyms could be fun...
AHTTE was wonderful but I had to trade DBRRRRR for it with other stuff. Drinking a PS N 45 that came with the trade and PS N 45 is great.
Since I started this I guess I will use my words. All Hundred Thousand Trillion Everything is amazing. Thanks @PhineasMcClintock. The Permutation Series Number 45 is also excellent.
BTW I didn't make up FBHWWBAMJ. It obviously stands for a beer that few have had but I have FT. Funky Buddha High West Whiskey Barrel Aged Mint Julep. If you didn't get that you are probably ok.
