Sometimes you get lucky by blending, but even if you don't I figure it's better than pouring something down the drain. Not too long ago I had some 90 Minutes that had lost a lot of their hoppy aroma, as well as some fresh New Dogtowns in the house. Those two beers made a nifty blend because the New Dogtowns had aroma hops to spare, and the 90 Minute gave it some heft.

Perhaps- but usually the aroma fades a lot quicker than the bitterness, so it depends on the IPA as well as how old it is.

Some think this, and some just think this must be the case, but I believe many think a mild goes better with curries.

Ask anyone in WI what to do with that beer. Boil brats in it and throw em on the grill!

Make IPA garlic noodles. :grinning: Boil noodles per usual, but a couple of minutes before they're supposed to be done, drain the water and replace with IPA. Add crushed garlic and salt to taste. Simmer until the noodles soak up the beer and pasta is al dente.

It may not be the greatest idea, but I'm sure for a minute it would be the best moment in that plants life.

For what it's worth, I had a year old Wipeout IPA recently. Was deelish; obviously not as hoppy as fresh but still good. Also, a 6 month old Harpoon IPA was also tasty...

Hmm... ok, next time I get my hands on some, I might to let it purposely let it expire, just to try that.

    Thank you.

The only thing I've used an IPA for besides drinking was in cooking a beef stew. After braising the stew meat I poured a bottle of Celebration into the pan and let it simmer for a few minutes and mixed all the leftover giblets up in it, then poured it into my crockpot. Added just a hint of Celebration to my stew - it was great!

This is just about the only food/cooking application that really makes sense with an IPA, IMO. Citrusy Chicken? Hell Yes. Grapefruit Bratwurst? NOOOOOOOOOOPE.
