Something I've been trying recently is using donation-planned, (CLEAN!) clothes to wrap and pack boxes. Seems like a free packing material...everyone has that pile that needs to go to goodwill, as soon as you get to it, right? Anyone ever tried this? Shirts wrap up bottles of any size, and would even absorb some liquid in case of emergency. Would this freak you out as a recipient?
LOL I'm the king of this, but i don't use shirts that would go to donation. I use liquor shirts that donation places won't accept, all my shirts are new and people love them. They stop the sloshing sound and its way better than throwing them out. Hopefully people ware them but i could care less if they use them as shop rags, at least they are getting use.
Yeah, I don't mind unused shirts, but the thought of some man's (even if claimed washed) old shirts around my beer just seems...yucky .
I use old underwear that, in addition to providing cushioning, keeps any nosy FedEx or UPS workers from digging around. I could see how people might be a bit weirded out to have old (even clean) shirts wrapped around their beer. I think I would be ok with it, but that's just me.
I would definitely be weirded out by beer wrapped in clothes, no thanks. Would rather have you donate to goodwill than dump the used clothes on me.
I reacieved a box today and the bottles were wrapped in shop towels. I thought that was cool, you can never have to many. They were clean and unused but now they reside in my garage to be used.
While preparing a box for shipment I was short on packing materials. Really wanting the box shipped I went for a pile of my sons recently outgrown clothes. Turned out to be fantastic packing material. Once the box landed I got a message asking what's up with all the size XS clothes?
You should have told him you are a little person and got all indignant, asking why he has an issue with people of small stature.
I've had boxs packed with T shirts, no problems at all, I get foam free at work so that's what I use. Diapers might be a great sound suppresser though.
Diapers might be the smartest thing I have read in a while, they would get rid of sloshing and (heaven forbid) soak up any tragic leaks. Might be a little weird though, think I will stick to bottle shippers and newspaper.
If the goal is to prevent leaks, use ziploc and trash bags. As a father of 2 that are still in diapers, I can tell you how expensive diapers are compared to trash bags and ziplocs . Sheesh...maybe I'll switch the kids to ziploc and trash bags .
