Found this article at BYO online yesterday, did it to my brew kettle today.

Took about an hour after I had all the parts assembled. Used an old 12V DC power adapter plugged into a standard wall outlet. Worked really well!

I plan to get adhesive stencils tomorrow and add number markings.

This is after I added half-gallon marks for 3.5 and 4.5 gallons:

Cool idea, I think I might have to give this a shot for logos, if you really want to determine volumes for efficiency IMO its better to calibrate your carboy

you could etch the markings on there with your pocket knife too. :grimacing:

It was a simple process, but the work was in doing the taping and volume measurement. Prost!

Lol, unfortunately we in Arizona don't have pocket knives like Texans' pocket knives. Certainly not strong enough or sharp enough to etch stainless steel at any rate

A calibrated carboy and calibrated brew pot serve two different purposes (at least on my system). A calibrated brew pot helps me hit target OG, while a calibrated carboy helps me hit prefermentation volume. For me they are not the same volumes as some wort is left behind in the pot.
