It seems that there are so many threads that pop up with links to horrific trade offers and many complaints about people getting burned for not knowing the value of their or someone else's beer. I was looking through the feedback forum and noticed that the Bros are enabling new "like" counters in the next couple weeks with new achievements. That got me thinking that it could be a good idea to repurpose the "like"s as a trading tool. Without contributing to other forum stats, "likes" could be enabled on the trade forum in a way that they could be seen as a visual vote of what everyone believes to be fair or balanced on the main trading page. Even being able to "like" a trade based on the thread title without clicking through the thread would be an easy way of quickly voting. Just an idea I had, is it a good one?
Just be honest and let the likes fall where they may. I don't believe in making populist posts just to garner approval.
I see your point. Probably 14-16 Honesty is great and all, but per my first statement, many people still get burned or are new to trading and are unfamiliar with how this site works.
I knew you would come in here and throw a wrench in the plan! I can see that happening as well but hopefully not to the extent it would be ridiculous.
As Rempo said, this would only work if I actually trusted the peanut gallery. As it is, the majority appears to be the problem lately when it comes to valuation.
And I've added another point towards whatever achievement you're bound to receive for accumulated likes. On topic: I could see the use of likes turning into a major issue if we let it affect trade values. Especially if a group colludes or trade partners start to get pissy that their trading partners aren't giving them likes when the same is being done on the trade partner posts.
This. I don't think anyone needs to be the judge of whether a trade is "fair" or not. The OP will figure it out based on responses to their ISO or lack thereof. Contrictive criticism can be done via BM.
isn't that called reddit? Also "voting" would only work if you could dislike something, otherwise it is just hyping and bloating. All KBS offers would be going 1 for 1 with Rare, Chocolate Rain, Cable Car, etc
If your system is implemented, So Cal people should not be allowed to like Sede Vacante, and Midwesterners should not be allowed to like Bolt Cutter. Maybe newer users could be banned from liking Dark Lord. Should be pretty simple with user location information and join dates.
I think once the trade value tanked, there was a huge influx of people saying they never liked it to begin with. Those guys were silent around release time... On a site visit, I traveled to a nearby store and was able to buy six bottles (left at least 16 more behind) a month after release. Only in retrospect did I realize why I was able to find so many.
