using pumpkin pie spice qustion

    I am gonna make pumpkin beer this weekend, recipe includes pumpkin pie spice , the spice package ingredients indicate sulfiting agents, Is that a yeast killer ?

    It can be, but it's probably not in a high enough quantity to matter. To be safe, I would just make my own spice mixture. If the individual spices aren't listed on the package, just seek out a pumpkin pie recipe and copy the spices and quantities.

    I used pumpkin pie spice in the boil and as a tincture in the secondary. No problems.

    Just read about it, Sulfites occur naturally in some foods and beverages as a result of fermentation, such as in beer and wine. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/fy731
