Too bad they didn't realize this earlier. Now if they'd only allow the shipping in and out of all states we would all be much happier.

Agree with your point that they shoulda/coulda realize this earlier. But the states may have something to say about this as well since alcohol laws are state by state.

Exactly, PA is crap... So if they allow it to be shipped via USPS that's awesome but still doesn't do me any good if the law states that I can't have it shipped to my doorstep.

If the states that won't allow alcohol shipments figure out a way to make money off it, they'll jump on the bandwagon real quick.

Interstate commerce clause gives the power to the federal congress.

As much as the ICC has been abused, this is a case where it actually applies and they dont bother doing anything.

Saw this earlier, could be good news for everybody that loves trading. Flat rate shipping sounds particularly appealing.

sounds great but their tracking is quite horrible. they deliver but it's nice to track the item from beginning to end which is something they lack in big time.

I hope so, I'd much prefer to ship USPS as opposed to UPS/Fedex.

This thread was started yesterday and quickly deleted (i'm assuming). I'm not sure why.

Anyways, I'd like to have access to the packing materials that I receive from wine and beer stores, at the post office, so that I can securly ship my package. Albeit I wrap my bottle extremely well, it would give me more piece of mind. It also would depend on what USPS would charge to ship alcohol. I can't complain with the $15 I spent at FedEx the other day for 6 bombers.

I wouldn't ever ship with them. They treat boxes like soccer balls and door stops, at least in my experiences they have. I've sent out hard to get soda bottles, bubble wrapped, extra thick newspaper balls throughout for shock absorption, and double reinforced the box with more cardboard. Somehow, bottles were still broken. When I shipped with FedEx or UPS, and protected the bottles with less stuff, they were fine. Again, this is just my experience with them, not saying anybody else has to do what I do.

My local FedEx store has torn open boxes to "check packing" so they're right out, and my local UPS stores have just shitty service. I always have a better experience shipping USPS.

This would open the flood gates for trading... Could you imagine "if it fits, it ships" 6 packs? That'd be awesome!

Oh I have never had any issues with UPS or FedEx. I just go with USPS for the flat rate boxes. I did have a USPS issue recently though where I moved down one floor (same house, new mailbox a few feet away from the old one) and it took over two weeks and several phone calls to get my package forwarded to me.

Here is a study done by Popular Mechanics comparing Fedex, UPS and USPS.

Maybe this will be deleted as it's not exactly "beer related" but I'm posting it to educate those BA's who do trade via mail.

So which company treats your packages with the most tender loving care? After crunching the data and averaging the number of spikes recorded by each carrier on each trip, we found that the USPS has the gentlest touch, with a per-trip average of 0.5 acceleration spikes over 6 g's. FedEx and UPS logged an average of three and two big drops per trip, respectively (see graph, next page).

Given those results, we were a little surprised to find that the USPS flipped over its Express Mail packages an awful lot, averaging 12.5 position changes per trip. Meanwhile, FedEx averaged seven position changes, and UPS had an average of four.

All three carriers did a good job at maintaining a stable temperature, but FedEx nabbed the top rating, with an average change of only 26.01 degrees, compared with 26.8 degrees for UPS and almost 32 degrees for the USPS. But the maximum temperatures our package experienced were within 2 degrees, and at no time did a temperature register above 80 degrees or below 47 degrees.

One disheartening result was that our package received more abuse when marked "Fragile" or "This Side Up." The carriers flipped the package more, and it registered above-average acceleration spikes during trips for which we requested careful treatment.

But, for alcoholic beverages, the 21st Amendment which Repealed Prohibition in Section 1 gives it back to the states:
