Im looking to acquire one of these If I can get my hands on one through a trade or msrp. Before I pony up to the $200 price tag I'm curious to know if anyone has actually owned a bottle and how long it stays good after opening? I'm assuming with the 27% abv that it will be like liquor and last for many years, but don't want to assume.

Any general feedback as I'd like to buy one for a yearly celebration and this may make or break my commitment.

    Thanks

I wouldn't buy one that's already open man, but that's just me. -_- Also, there's no way I'd ever let it sit more than a week, but that's just the way I drink.

Mine lasted a couple of months. I'm sure it would have lasted longer, but I drank it...

A friend of mine opened one and finished it about a year and half later. Still tasted great after 18 months on it.

I've heard it ages well. Just keep it stored properly and you should be fine.

Never has one, but if BCBS ages well at 15%............. keep it stored properly so I would assume refrigerated.

My '11 bottle was open for just about a full year. It was good at the end but noticeably oxidized after about 9 months. So that's not to say that you can't keep it for a year or so, but it'll definitely change a bit.

It was stored at 55F the whole year, and I probably opened the bottle a total of 10-12 times throughout.

It won't go bad. Even after you open it.

I don't know the answer, but I think a lot of the responses so far are misinterpreting the question. OP is not asking whether it will age well. He's asking how long it will last AFTER he opens it...

It will last years. Started it on Christmas with a friend one year, and finished it the following year.

That's kind of like asking how many licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop! The world may never know. And if anyone ever knows the answer, well, they ain't livin'. -_-

I have the special anniversary bottle... I bought it in March and haven't touched it yet. My plan is to crack it on my birthday in September and have maybe 2-3 ounces, and do the same every subsequent year on my birthday until it runs out.

Thanks for the feedback and video...was hoping to buy a bottle in the next year, open on my future child's b-day and repeat a shot glass each year and kill it 21 years later...chased with a PBR of course

Nope; don't refrigerate this one at all.

Newer vintages should hold up better over time than older ones, since the ABV increases every release, though at 56 proof its getting pretty darn shelf stable at this point.
