I will be in Myrtle Beach with family in a few weeks. I'm not looking for bars, but what are there in the way of must visit bottle shops? I'm looking to not travel far, I can't spend hours away. Thanks!

Byrd's Beer at the Pig. It's in the Piggly Wiggly at Market Common out by the airport. One stop shop. I was just there last week and they put Mexican Cake and then Orange Bliss on the growler station the morning of the 4th of July. Lots of good stuff to choose from. I ended up grabbing lots of Westbrook cans, 4 different offererings from
Maine Brewing Co. a few things from Allagash. Greens and Pavillion are also worth stopping in if you happen to be passing by them but The Pig should be your goto.

^ this. BTW, while growing, the MB area is largely a craft beer wasteland.

+1 for THAT Piggly Wiggly. Also Mellow Mushroom Pizza has good taps and was other stop when I traveled to that area.

While they don't make beers that will change your life, New South was a fun visit as well. The brewery/tasting room offers a "tour" and free samples Tues-Thurs at 3:00. Its pretty informative, kids are allowed, its free, and they are the only local craft brewery other than Liberty but Liberty is some sot of chain so IMO, they don't count.

There are only two Liberty breweries (though there are other taphouses). While they do brew some of the same beers (like the Liberty Lager, for instance), they do allow the brewers some freedom to brew what they wish. Broadway at the Beach is about the cheesiest place at Myrtle Beach and certainly one of the most tourist-filled, but sometimes you just have to embrace that -- especially on family vacations.

There's another chain brewpub in Gordon Biersch, which is right around the corner from the Piggly Wiggly at Market Common. They do German styles pretty well and the food is decent.

Liberty in High Point Nc trumps the Mb location by quite a bit.

If you're looking for a good meal and good beer- Fire and Smoke Gastropub worked for us during my trip in March.

I agree - I was pleasantly surprised when I found this gem on my last visit to MB. Small tap and bottle list but with a pretty good representation of local/regional offerings.
