Visiting my brother in the future. He's a Miller Lite Kind of guy. Anything worth while near by? I remember one half-assed store there, about 5 years ago when I last visited...
I had to Google this city because I have never heard of it. It is just one word Valrico not 2 (Val Rico) as you posted. You are going to be very close to Tampa which had a 1 Total Wine that I know of, (which is pretty much on the same street as CCB) and several ABC stores. Being that close, I would just make the trip to Tampa if you can.
Valrico is right next to Brandon which has Craft Beer Cellar and Kingdom Liquor & Fine Wine...never been to either (I live in Tampa) but I here good things about both. Especially Kingdom. For breweries, you're also pretty close to Three Palms Brewing (http://threepalmsbrewing.com/). As for bars/restaurants, there is a World of Beer and The Brass Tap both in Brandon and also a nice restaurant/pub called the Stein & Vine. Plus, its a short drive to get to Tampa.
Kingdom is worth the stop. Owners are good people. Those heading to TW Tampa and CCB be warned the Southbound Exit from 275 to Dale Mabry will close on Tuesday, May 27th due to construction for 4 months. Yes, 4 months. Himes will be the temp exit, and it will be a mess. I'm thinking of trying Westshore and then backtracking on Boy Scout to Lois to Spruce.
Valrico is an hour or less away from CCB. If you have time you should make the trip. As others have noted you have Total Wine right next door. As for shops you have Craft Beer Cellar in Brandon. Good folks, solid selection and fair pricing. I have a love/hate relationship with Kingdom. The owner is friendly but his pricing is all over the map and you can find some of the brews he has elsewhere for a fraction of what he charges. He does get some of the toughest to find distro beers. As a matter of principle I dont do much business there any more due to the pricing. While in Brandon, hit up the Stein and Vine for the best tap list in the area and great food.
Valrico is just east of Brandon which is just east of Tampa. Brandon has some really good craft beer places now. The Stein and vine, brass tap and world of beer all have good selections. For buying, kingdom and craft beer cellar have good variety, but I agree with above that kingdom can be pricy and you have to persuade the owner to find out if he is storing anything not on the shelves. There is another liquor store in south Brandon that is tiny but has a nice supply of quality craft beers. There are two breweries about 100 yards from each other, three palms and ESB. ESB is next to home brew supply place that also sells beer and growlers. Both are worth a trip. A little east of Brandon is two Henry's which is also a winery. I am not a fan of the wines but the ladies seem to like them. Then you have ask the other stuff mentioned in the Tampa area.
Kingdom Craft Beer Cellar Various ABCs Winthrop Route 60 liquor (sometimes they have older stuff that may have been sold out at other places)
Mahalo for all your input. I would like to think I'll get into Tampa proper, but we'll see. I know we'll spend at least 3 days at money sucking parks & another at the Kennedy Space Center ( or whatever they call it now ). I appreciate it!
