I don't think either is intended to be complimentary.

    Completely agree.

What’s a value beer? Regardless of the price if I’m sitting in my chair drinking my beer and I make a face or have to fight it down where’s the value? I spent good money on an Old Hickory beer, I drank one fought the 2nd drain poured the other two, there’s no value there, I enjoy a cold Carte Blanca 10x more than that beer which I wouldn’t take for free.

He's asking for cheap and good. Certainly not cheap and so bad it's a fight to down it.

I get it, but good is subjective. They’re a ton of good beers on the shelf that imo are overpriced. If I pay $1 for a beer, and I don’t like it I pour it out. I pay $10 for a beer and I don’t like it, I pour it out. Sometimes you cant figure that stuff out until it’s too late, I’ve won some lost some. If I want dependably good and cheap I’d buy one of many AALs. A good many of SN beers fit his question, especially SNPA, but they make great beers reasonably priced, but only one Hazy IPA that I’ve tried.

Donovan in his tune They Call Me Mellow Yellow pretty much covers faddishness and its absurdities. And it was prescient to boot.

I can still remember sitting out in from of a Foothills sharing great beers at BA Sexual Chocolate release day, and guys in line screaming Whalez Bros. Lol, mostly younger guys I assume/hope. Not even a Whale, more like a bluegill, but the bottle shares were epic.

So, I just cracked open this offering from Mike Hess Brewing for the first time. Another winner from them when judged on quality per dollar. It sells for $11.04 for 6x12oz at Trader Joe's.[IMG]

I am not a huge fan of NEIPA

I did have ST lake fog this fall and thought it was quite good. It seemed to fall off pretty fast though. it fits your price point but probably not as murky as you want.

Sam NEIPA was ok but the body was so strange. Just too light for me and it was gone like that.

I have tried many others and never thought any were good enough to go back to. Of all I tried I find SingleCut to be the most overpriced and least impressive taste wise. They all taste so similar.

    Enjoy

I don’t disagree about the sameness. But I did find Treehouse to be a step above with Very Green being my favorite, and also Fox Farm, which both me and my wife enjoyed. Trillium is a bit hit or miss for me, some are great, and some just don’t work for me. Everyone’s different, but some of the beers from Resident Culture in Charlotte are as good as any beer coming out of NE.

Not sure if Jackie Os distributes your way but “ Who Cooks for You” pale ale and “Mystic Mama” IPA I find as delicious as almost most any NEIPAs and they are about $12-$13 per 6 pack 12oz cans. I’m also a big fan of New Belgium’s Juicy Haze Voodoo Ranger.

thanks for all the input and I have quite a few to look for.

Sloop juice bomb is a regular for me and god bless them in 12 ounce cans. I like juicer, and jucier bomb better for this style as they are murkier and have a higher abv and smoother mouthfeel with a little softer hop ending which is perfect to me , BUT I think they are a few bucks above the arbitrary threshold!

Head full of fresh hops was fire this year. Hot fire, especially when I dont find head full of dynamite to be so special. And now that I am paying attention I realize that fremont is not, in fact, deschutes brewing. Nothing to see here. Carry on.

Ditto on that. Good, widely available, and as I recall it is about $10(?) for 6x12 oz.

I forgot to add Lord Hobo - Angelica Hazy IPA. $8.99 for a four pack around here and it's pretty good.
