Took mother nature a little extra time to get going this year, but the cherry blossoms are out and I think finally we won't see anymore snow :astonished:

Like border wait times, things are constantly changing so check back often or ask a question about a visit coming up, the new hype breweries, and all that jazz.

Superflux Rainbow Machine just hit shelves btw. It's gooooood.

I'l be driving up from Seattle to Vancouver on Tuesday for a conference at the Pacific Gateway Hotel at the airport. Do you think I'll be able to find Rainbow Machine anywhere near the airport on Tuesday or Wednesday? I'll be out seeing customers Wednesday morning/afternoon before the conference starts Wednesday PM.

I'm also on the lookout for Twin Sails cans. Is it best to go to the brewery or try to find them in retail stores? Any chance Vapor Waves is still hanging around?

If you don't want to go into the city, I'd consider stopping at the Central City Brewpub in Surrey, which has a pretty good liquor store as well. Maybe call ahead and see what they have. That said, transit from the airport is really quite good... you should go into the city! (Hopefully a local can tell you where to find it).

Personally, I'd take their Happyness over the Rainbow. BTW, they're about $20 for a 4-pack of tall cans.

Twin Sails cans aren't at Central City LRS. You might find a few at Kerrisdale Liquor. Vapour Wave was brewery only. Rainbow Machine you won't find downtown anywhere (Sold Out I believe), maybe at a couple of the private shops in North Richmond, but you'd have to call around, I haven't been in ages to those shops. There's a store just south of River Rock Casino I had good luck at a couple yrs ago, they seem to carry most local seasonals.

Picked up some rainbow machine at Kitsilano liquor and brewery creek. Stopped by Twin Sails and for some vapor wave. Been a good trip so far.

@Ma9573 You sure picked a nice weekend to come visit! The weather is supposed to be amazing.

Twin Sails has a triple release of beers coming up:

I'd highly recommend checking them and Yellow Dog out in Port Moody. You can take the train all the way there from downtown now, but who knows your golf may take you close anyways.

VCBW just launched it's collab beer, it's a Hazy Pale ale, should be in shops soon if not already.

Pretty much every brewery in the city is doing something hazy, so yes it has caught on!

Also make sure to hit up Callister Brewing for some Boombox. It's like a CoOp system, Boombox makes a lot of great IPAs, mostly hazy ones as of late.

Alibi Room has lots of great stuff on tap right now.

Daby's Gastown has lots of great stuff on tap right now.

12Kings has lots of great stuff on tap right now and OH LOOK they also carry many of the city's tall boy cans that most other bars don't. Shhhhhh. (you might even find the newest Twin Sails releases this weekend)

Merchants is a great place to go to eat, but they have a kickass tap, can, and bottle list. You might need to ask about the cans and taps.

What bottle shop/liquor store would you recommend stopping at between the border and downtown to stock up on good beer (for evenings) and cheaper/light beer (for the golf course)?

Quite a few shops in that range!

Southpoint Liquor Store is fairly close to the border, I stopped in there once on the way to US and was pleasantly surprised at the selection and stock.

Highpoint Liquor Store is one of my fav shops in Vancouver. It's a bit out of the way but I pass by often. They stock most current releases and have great prices.

Brewery Creek is a must stop if you've never been. They're generally regarded as the best shop in BC, but lately I've found stuff to be quite pricey. They will have an awesome selection though, and the neighbourhood is great. Not too far from them is Firefly Liquor Store.

If you're downtown or near Stanley Park, for sure check out Denman Beer Wine and Spirits.

Kerrisdale West Coast Liquors. 39th & Cambie BC Liquor Store is the flagship location, worth a stop for pure variety of booze. 8th and Cambie BCL is good too.

Should really just make a Google map of all these spots :grinning:

Some nice beers up here! So far have had all the hoppy beers currently in draft at Yellow Dog and Twin Sails breweries. Not a fan of the Yellow Dog stuff, but Twin Sails disco nap (had it at Alibi, not the brewery) was awesome, Dat Juice was Good, and Bread Winner was solid. Alibi was a great recommendation @JonnyBeers and I had 5 more Hoppy beers there. Besides Disco Nap, Superflux
Happiness was an awesome Piney dank west coast IPA. I also was able to get a 4 pack of their Colour and Shape hazy IPA and it is great too. Just missed out on their Rainbow one apparently at Pacific Liquor.

The VCBW Hazy Pale unfortunately was not good, at all. But so far I'm loving what I'm seeing from BC!

Damn! Disco Nap must have just gone on tap, not even released at the brewery yet. haven't had the VCBW one yet myself either haha.

Not an IPA, but Strange Fellows did a collab with Modern Times last year called Strange Times, you might find it around, but if not their newer beer called Strange Resemblance is supposed to be similar and quite tasty.

Going to be in Vancouver today and I have zero knowledge of the scene. I plan on bringing a couple empty growlers to fill and bring back to Bellingham with me. Any suggestions on where I should stop to get them filled? I typically like to fill my growlers with hoppy varieties.

with the liquor laws up here you are quite a bit more limited compared to WA as to where you can fill up.. pretty much have to stick to breweries: http://growlerfill.ca/location/ca/bc/vancouver

Depending what area your gonna be in, I'd recommend Four Winds, Storm, Brassneck or Yellow Dog.

My wife and I are heading up July 5th - 12th. Rented a condo near the Vancouver Public Library on Richards st. We like to walk or use public transportation. Give us some suggestions - nearby bars and breweries. Any events or beers to seek out? We like most beers, especially IPAs, not big on wilds/sours. Thanks for any advice or tips
