Since you guys fucking crushed it on VAN recommendations, any thoughts about spots on Victoria? Heading there tomorrow for a few days with not much planned.

What are the best breweries and bottle shops? Going to be in town Sunday and Monday from Portland. I've been to Four Winds and Granville Island Brewing on my only other quick trip to Vancouver area

Bottleshops really depends where you're staying and if you're driving or not. My favs are - Denman Beer Wine & Spirits, High Point Beer Wine Spirits, Liberty Wine Merchants, The Gull Liquor Store, Pacific Liquor Store (Fleetwood and Coquitlam), Darbys Liquor Store, Kitsilano Liquor Store. (Those are what they show as in Google Maps)

Breweries we have many. Preferred styles? Head to Brewers Row in Port Moody if you like IPAs. Four Winds you've been but they've expanded a lot. Brassneck has a wide range, Strange Fellows, Luppolo is new and doing fun wild ales among other things. Superflux doesn't have its own brewery but is amazing. You'll find them on tap around town.

Plenty of other breweries. If you walk around EastVan you could easily hit 5-6 in an afternoon.

Boombox is brewing again at their new home Dogwood Brewing. It's just off Marine Dr and Knight in South Vancouver. They're releasing their 2nd canned beer this weekend!

I was planning to be in Vancouver next weekend for Zwanze day, but apparently it'll be delayed a week or two.

Is there anything else next weeken that's particularly interesting?

Broadway Liquor Store had Sartori Harvest as of Friday. Two-bottle limit per person, and you probably have to ask for it, as I don't think they're keeping it on a shelf. Fresh hop IPAs from Fuggles & Warlock and Powell are also out. The store also has Jelly King, which I've not seen in stores here before. This was the first I've been in a private liquor store in a few months though, so maybe that's not news. Pricey, but I'm looking forward to trying it.

Ya we’ve had Jelly King since June many places. Motley Cru, Farmageddon and also Cherry Jelly King plus Farmhouse Classic might still be around

Coming up again this December for a night at the Farimont Pacific Rim. Just like last year I'll have a few hours to kill while my wife is doing spa treatments, so I'm thinking of walking to Alibi Room, Strathcona/Superflux and Callister Brewing. Anything else I should hit? I'll have a car but would rather not mix beer and driving.

I heard ride sharing might be legal by December, is that still in the works? EDIT: Nevermind, looks like your government backed out on that.

Hit Luppolo for sure. The new Callister breweries haven’t exactly hit their stride just yet. Worth checking the tap list at Darbys Gastown too, you might find more Flux there than at Strath even.

Darbys doesn't show any Superflux right now, but I'll keep looking. I'd rather check out brewery spaces over more bars since I always hit Alibi. Luppolo definitely goes on the list.

Hey all you Vancouver folks, I'm visiting my sister this weekend and since she knows I love beer she wants to take me to a brewery. However, she really only likes sours and cider so if we go to a place I want to make sure that she'll be able to drink something too. Is there any place around the Vancouver area that has a decent amount of sours on draft? It doesn't have to be a brewery either, a bar would be fine. From my initial googling Strathcona has 2 sours on tap at the moment, but I figured some insight from locals might be a good idea too.

    Thanks!

Strange Fellows, Brassneck, Powell St might have a sour or two. Didn’t even know Strath did any sours, likely kettle ones.

I think SF has cider and maybe Brassneck.

Bar wise Darbys, Alibi, and St Augs should all match your criteria. Or if you don’t mind a little further out hit up the new Bells & Whistles.

Four Winds just released IV their 4 year old barrel sour. Powell is releasing a 30 month Sour. I think Twin Sails has a wine aged sour coming out as part of their anniversary party this weekend.

Twin Sails is releasing 8 beers tomorrow as part of their 2yr party. Coalesce has two fruited farmhouse ales releasing Sunday.

S&O release Timut their collab with Commons finally. Taproom only. They also have a brewers series Saison out at shops now.

    I’m beer poor.
