Four Winds just released their collab with Trou Du Diable. It's a barrel aged beer/cider blend.

Had a great couple of days in Vancouver. Hit up two breweries, Granville Island-awful! Had low expectation and no intention of going, but was on the island decided what the hell. Bad! Hit up Brassneck and really enjoyed it. We also made it to both Alibi Room and St. Augustine, and found Alibi Room to be our most enjoyed spot by quite a bit. St Augustine was ok, but not my vibe. Loved the city and the peoole. Had great food, coffee, cocktails and beer. Next time we'll stay longer.

Just back from our first trip to Vancouver. I only hit up Steamworks so cannot compare it to any other Vancouver places but I would very highly recommend it. It's in Gastown very close to the clock. The building has a lot of character and great views of the water and North Vancouver. I had their Nitro Oatmeal Stout and Vanilla Imperial, both were great. The food was amazing. I had salmon risotto with shrimp. Also tried poutine for the first time. Holy shit. Does it always come with cheese curds?

I wanted to stop by Four Winds on the way home but they were closed exceptionally today. Luckily I picked up a bottle of their Juxtapose IPA in the liquor store. Drinking it now. I would have bought a case if I knew it'd be this good.

Yup, poutine is fries with gravy and cheese curds. And it's the greatest.

Greetings! My wife and I will be up to visit sometime in May (probably the 9th or 10th through the 12th or 13th; still TBD), and will be fresh from the De Garde Anniversary party if anyone has interesting in setting up a bottle share?

This thread is much appreciated, as we'll likely be going with the flow while we're up there. Always nice to have a list of restaurant/bar/brewery options to check out if we, for whatever reason, can't find something to do!

Also, I agree, poutine is the greatest.

Guaranteed you'll get some bites on that. I'll be away unfortunately, but that sounds great.

I'll leave it up to you folks, plenty of time to figure something out - shoot me a message if interested! I'll try and remember to mention to the wife that this might be happening

Heading to Vancouver tomorrow. Where the loons at?

    ...

Just kidding. I've been to Brassneck, Parallel 49, Storm, Steamworks, Alibi Room, 33 acres, most of the known beer stores, St. Augustines before. I'm definitely rotating in strangefellows and four winds. What else?

    Also: Where the loons at?

Check out Callister. Unfortunately a sour from one of their next brewers just came and went today on tap. Cool spot regardless and the Frank IPA by Machine is great. There's 4 breweries part of Callister.

Main Street Brewing might be fun for some experimental beers.

Steamworks has an actual brewery in Burnaby and tasting room for anyone who has only been to the gastown brewpub. They are essentially 2 different breweries at this point.

Dageraad in Burnaby. Yellow Dog, Twins Sails, Moody all in Port Moody worth checking out.

If for some reason you're driving up through Abottsford there's Field House Brewing.

The Loons are probably on a freighter in the middle of the Atlantic.

Four Winds just released Nectarous in bombers not too long ago. And today they have a new series (not brand new beers, well new recipe for Maison, but bombers!)

Right. What i meant is that nobody in Seattle ever talks about BC beer, which is odd. People seem much more inclined to go to portland

Ahh gotcha! I think we still have a bit of a ways to go to be comparable to Portland.. Many small breweries starting up, but a lot of them need to work on finding a niche.. getting there though!

My wife and I are in the planning stages of visiting Vancouver. We've never been. Is there an area of Vancouver that we can stay in that is walking distance to a breweries, bars, and restaurants? We are looking at hotels or renting a condo through vrbo. For example, when we go to Portland we stay in Downtown or Pearl. Then we walk to deschutes, bailey's, fat heads, eetc. We like to walk  not sure if needed, but we like most beers with the exception of sours. Thanks.
