Get it. It's once a year - and almost sold out everywhere. Comes out in November. It's 6 months old now which is PERFECT. It's always too hot on release.

For Vanilla dark ales I give a vote to Abita's Vanilla doubledog. The Vanilla is really pronounced on it and it approaches the sweetness of a good porter.

Breckendridge Vanilla Porter is really good. Also if you want a vanilla overload, Southern Tier Creme Brulee can't be beat.

I went through at least 24 since November. Around 2/3 of that for the wife. She loves the stuff. I do too. Wish it were year round.

I've had it on tap and I would recommend it as a try, I really like the way the vanilla is incorporated as more of a presence or essence instead of some slick syrupy overload in the mouthfeel that being said the porter itself isn't anything special and was wishing it was a lil fuller/rich as a porter. Much like their Oatmeal Stout I came away a bit underwhelmed given the choices in the market.

Definitely available in NY and Northern NJ (I have gotten it in both places). In NYC I saw it at Whole Foods Bowery and New Beer in the last couple of weeks.

Agree that V@S is top notch. You should try Stone's Smoked Porter with Vanilla Beans if you can find it on tap somewhere.
    It is also very solid.

Breckenridge was too much Vanilla for me. If I want a sweet porter, I go with Anchor - some very nice subtle notes there. That said if you want full on vanilla Breckenridge is your porter.

I know it's not available on the East Coast but just had a Tanilla vanilla porter from Knee Deep Brewing while in Utah and liked it a lot more than the ratings led me to believe I would. Also it was 3.49 for a bomber!

I really like Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, but it's flaw is that it's a bit too watery, otherwise the vanilla is spot-on.

One day I will find Victory at Sea...one day...(truth be told I haven't looked too hard, but still!)

Yeah, I really enjoyed Tanilla myself. Maybe I'm biased since the brewery is located in my town, but it's still a great vanilla porter. The only thing not going for it is it has a rather light mouthfeel. But, other than that it's great! I also really like the bottle design.

I like the Breckenridge one despite what my review says. I found a near 2 year old bottle that was hidden in my fridge and it was still very vanilla forward.
