Anyone hear if VR is being re-released in our area at all? Heard from people here and there mostly through facebook groups that VR was re-released nationwide recently (particularly through total wine I believe I heard). Heard people in WA, FL and NV found bottles recently? Not sure what is true or rumors at this point.

Corridor TW in MD had a handful of bottles yesterday for $50.
Was posted on their Facebook page.
Had some regular and coffee too.

Considering we don't have any Total Wine's, unlikely. I'd hope they bring some along for Migration Week at the end of July.

As intrigued by a bottle of VR I am, I consider it to be one of the top beers I've ever drank, I'm not paying $50 for one. Out of curiosity, is it known that this is exclusive to Total Wine?

yeah pretty sure total wine exclusive... Seattle got some or WA, NV, FL, MD and i think a few other states... there was a lot of shitlording that occurred in FL.. the trade/secondary market is full of "single owner" trades etc since these people just picked them up.

Even at $50 people know there is $150-220 that they can still make

Wow, really?? That's insane. I bought it when it came out at $30 and that's still the most I've ever paid for a beer. I was offered Rare for $65 and didn't even have to think about it.

    Thanks for the response.

I agree, $50 for VR or $65 for rare are more than I could justify for a single bottle of bourbon county. $30 is the most I've paid for a bottle (abbaye de saint bon-Chien). Since you bought it fresh for $30, what premium, if any, would you pay for an aged VR?

i'd probably have paid the $50 for it had i seen it in a store.. i certainly wouldn't pay $200+ which is what it fetches. With that said i wouldn't spend $30 on rare at this point in time. VR is much much much better then the new Rare

I managed to sit on the one bottle I bought for almost a year and a half which wasn't easy. Saying that, I would maybe spend a few extra, not much more than $30. Probably not even $40.

Yea I paid $27.99 for a VR and that is by far the most I've ever spent on a single beer.

Skipped Rare twice at $65.99 but was able to try it three separate times.

There is a lot of beer out there I haven't had, but this one is at the top of the list of one I would like to try. Been on a bunch of times in NYC and LI, but was never able to make it to places that had it. I think I would pay $50 for it.

Same here, only difference was missed it in DC instead of NY. So when they told me $50 I said damn and then said l'll take it.

I would much rather have a fresh one than an aged one, so I would not intentionally pay a premium for the aged, but I would definitely buy one for $50 if I could.

this is why people are stupid and also is everything wrong with beer all rolled into one. Sounds like the conversations I used to hear in beer lines.

Had a local bar get a keg last week of VR and it was severely disappointing. Vanilla is almost gone. I do not know if this has anything to do with the release of bottles out into the wild, but hopefully they are holding up better than the keg I was drinking from.
