    Things to consider:

    1. I believe this is the first time this beer has been released in bottles. If so, nobody has any experience aging this particular bottle yet.

    2. Vanilla tends to fade quickly in general, although bcbs vanilla drank better a year after it was released IMHO.

    3. Rye fades fades fairly fast, but not as fast as vanilla generally

Now couple that info with reviews of the beer when fresh, decide what taste experience you want by comparison, then decide on how long you want to wait to hopefully achieve that desired flavor profile.

    Enjoy rolling the dice!

I had this on tap on Black Wednesday in NYC. I thought it was incredible, but I didn't find the (outstanding) flavors to be blended well at all. I got all BCBS up front and a vanilla explosion on the back end, which lingered for several minutes. I think at least a year is in order.

I was lucky to snag 2 bottles in NY, so inasmuch as I got to try it on tap, I'm going to lay one down for 1 year and the other for 3.

Dude, I'm in the exact same boat as you. I will be opening my bottle of Vanilla Rye on Xmas as well. I'm in my craft beer infancy and this is my first time to join the BCBS mania. I plan on saving a regular and coffee for next year since I have more than one. The vanilla is a single and will be drank soon.

Phenomenal. The 2010 vanilla notes where pretty much depleted, but incredibly smooth. And still had some vanilla hidden in the back lol but damn I can stress enough how smooth it was.

So much this. At one time I had 6 bottles of 2010 BCBVS. Drank a couple fresh, drank a couple more over the years, drank one earlier this year and traded the last.
Anyone who says they can say with certainty how something tasted years ago is full of it. Time changes our memories, our sense of taste changes (whether you know it or not), etc.

And given the number of,people who claim to,have had the original vanilla, there would have had to be 100,000 bottles out there, lol
