Double Can Release 1/29 On Sunday, January 29th we are releasing cans of Aussie Double IPA and 5Cs IPA! But before we get to the beer, we have an important announcement to make about our new release policy for 2017: We want everyone to have the same opportunity to access the limited cans we create. In order to do that, we will be releasing each series of cans ONLINE one day before the physical release. So, on SATURDAY January 28th, you will have the opportunity to reserve up to the full allotment of each beer through our online store during a 24 window from midnight on Friday to midnight on Saturday. On Sunday, we will announce that any remaining cans not pre-sold will be available at the bar and coincide with the official beer tapping at 11:30am. If you reserved your beer, there is no need to line up in advance. Enjoy your Sunday morning, have some coffee, read the paper, and come by whenever you feel like it. Life’s too short folks. You’ll have 7 DAYS to pick up the cans at the bar by presenting your ID. If you do not pick up within 7 days, your order will be refunded and cans will be forfeited and opened up to our waitlist. Our goal here is simple: more beer and less lines. We have lots of great cannings scheduled for this year and we want to share them with as many of you as possible. Now, onto the beers: Aussie Double IPA is our heavily hopped homage to the land of Oz. To create this beer, we have to transport whole flower hops (otherwise unobtainable) directly from Australia and navigate them to our brewery on the other side of the world. Then we double-dry hop the beer with the newly arrived Vic Secret, Galaxy, Ella, and Summer. Hefty notes of tropical fruit punch, sticky hops, and candied citrus. 8.4%, $18/4pk 5C’s IPA is our tried and true semi-seasonal IPA brewed with whole flower Cascade, Citra, Columbus, Centennial, and Chinook. We have brewed this beer 17 times and it gets better with each iteration. We continue to tweak the ratios of the 5 “C” hops to get that perfect balance of citrus/pine/dank. 6.4%, $16/4pk Allotments will be announced after the canning on Friday 1/27 and the online store will open on Saturday morning at 12:01am (that’s Friday late night). We can’t thank you enough for your support and we hope you’ll join us as we continue to strive to bring you the best beer experience we can. For the love of beer, – Vault
This is an awesome idea. I can understand why other breweries won't or can't do something like this (space limitations, not having a good online store, etc), but I hope this starts a trend.
Very interesting idea but this could easily backfire on the Brewery. If the Brewery is going to give a full refund to those who don't pick up, I see many people reserving a full or partial allotment knowing there is no risk or commitment in doing so. If reviews are not great on the released cans many people could just decide to not show up. I like the idea from a consumer point of view but can't see this being a trend that Vault or any Brewery would be interested in over time. Having to hold beers and process refunds can become a nuisance.
I think both Threes and RAR do simillar online sale but I don't think either of them will process the refund
That is good goal. Lines are partially the consumers faults to begin with, but good to see a brewery trying to do something better for the consumers.
I participated in the release and found it incredibly smooth. Got home late Friday night, so I just stayed up to midnight to place my order. No site lag or anything. Ordered two 4-packs of each. Per their Instagram, it looks like they sold out Saturday afternoon. They did send out an email Saturday night clarifying that there was no shipping allowed, an oversight in the original order confirmation. I strolled in around 11:45 Sunday morning, was told to go to the side of the bar, waited behind all of two people, showed my confirmation on my phone, was handed my cans and went on with my day.
Im headed to the Princeton area today, so I'm hopping into Pennsylvania to pick up the cans I already ordered. I don't have a ton of time, but is there a decent bottle shop somewhere close-ish in the area of Vault where I can find a decent variety of not-distributed-in-NJ beers?
Good timing, going to be down that area the next couple of days. Haven't heard of them before. Placed an order to give them a try. I like the way they are doing this, works out good for me.
