When I look over the trading forums, I see in quite a few instances where people are inquiring about VBDL or BVDL. Are those two the same thing?

I guess I assumed they are the same but apparently if one looks over the 'Vanilla Dark Lord' beer search list, there is a Brandy BA Dark Lord with Vanilla Beans (retired), and there is a Bourbon BA Vanilla Bean Dark Lord (or now known as Marshamallow Handjee) and so I'm not sure anymore. Any insight when people refer to VBDL or BVDL, what exactly they are referring to?

Interchangeable. Generally if someone is referring to brandy vanilla they specify.

Nine times out of ten you'll see Bourbon Vanilla Dark Lord (now called Marshmallow Handjee) referred to as "BVDL". Otherwise, people make up all kinds of different acronyms intended for the same beer. VBDL, BAVDL, BBAVBDL, BAVBDL, etc.

Like @mlhyatt mentioned, typically if someone if referencing the 2011 Brandy Vanilla Dark Lord, they specify or you know it based on what they're asking for or offering in a trade.

IIRC until a few years ago people meant Brandy Dark Lord with Vanilla Beans when they said BVDL. And VBDL meant Bourbon Dark Lord with Vanilla Beans. But around '13 both started being used for Bourbon Vanilla and people started specifying Brandy Vanilla as stated.... Brandy Vanilla is basically batch 1 BVDL. '12-present have been Bourbon Vanilla.

I think 2014 was actually the first year it was called "Marshmallow Handjee" but people only started referring to it as that this year. My guess is because when they announced the variants this year they listed them by those nicknames and I'm not sure they'd done that in the past.
