Ill be visiting Vegas this weekend? Any suggestions on breweries to visit in the strip? West Coast IPA's? Thanks in advance.
I don't live there, but from visiting recently. Vegas is weird with breweries. You will get a lot that basically feel like older bars/brewpubs that are in casinos (thanks to old laws that have since changed). A lot of those places are not that great for beer. They may have a handful of core beers without much creativity and more based off of tourists drinking them at the casinos. Must hit breweries: Crafthaus Lovelady Bad Beat Hop Nuts All of these feel more like breweries you would find in other cities. They have rotating taps, actual tap rooms, and more of the feel that people going to breweries generally look for. The problem, though, is that 3 of them are in Henderson which may mean that you have to either rent a car or get a pricier Uber down there. Hop Nuts is in between the Strip and Fremont, so much easier for tourists to get to. If you just want places close in, then add: Banger Tenaya Creek Banger is on Fremont, and is easy to hit. They have a small taproom with rotating beers. Definitely worth checking out if you are in that area. Tenaya is maybe a $5 uber ride from Fremont, has a bigger taplist, and as other people's beers on tap. Again, if you are staying on Fremont, it is worth going up to it. Big Dogs is another that has the older "Vegas" vibe brewpub to it that does make good beer. The bar has all the machines at it so you can gamble while drinking a flight. From an outsider, it just had a weird vibe to it but I still enjoyed the beer. It just did not feel like a modern craft brewery due to this. Other ones along the strip/Fremont: Chicago Brewing Triple 7 Brewpub Sin City Brewing (actually brewed at Lovelady's but has two places along the strip) Meh. You can go to them. Just do not expect anything special. If you end up driving down to Hoover Dam, then it may be worthwhile to swing into Boulder Dam Brewing. I do not think it is really worth the drive just for this place, it could be a good stopping point for a pint. The beers were decent, again, nothing that stood out or unique. Joseph James is probably the biggest name in breweries in Las Vegas, but they do not currently have a taproom. As far as some local bars, Atomic Liquors and Aces and Ales seem to be the big two.
