Hey all, gonna be in Vegas this weekend and I was looking for some great places to go to in order to get my craft beer on. I saw the Pub at Monte Carlo, etc, but wanted to know if anyone had some other suggestions. I will be staying at the Paris, taxiing back and forth. Help a fellow BA out!

I was just in Vegas this past weekend. Public House in Luxor has a great bottle list. Also the pub in Monte Carlo is another great option. I took my own bottles and growlers with me to offset the cost.

What I didn't know is that it's illegal (I didn't check, this is only what was told to me by a pissed off bartender) to open up a bottle in a casino in Nevada. Whatever, I didn't care. Lol.

I was just in Vegas, Public House at Luxor and Burger Bar are about the best you get on that end of the strip.
The Pub I found to be mediocre...has some locals and decent beers on tap but they are stupidly overpriced even for Vegas (and if you are there while it is really busy they will put your $12 "pint" in a 12oz plastic cup).

I highly recommend going to the Public House in the Venetian, the tap list looked like the best anywhere in Vegas.

If you insist on staying on the strip, First Food and Bar at the Venetian / Palazzo is pretty good. Otherwise, just get in a cab and go to Freakin' Frog or Aces and Ales.

Never heard that before either. More than likely a casino policy.

That's why the El Dorado in Reno rules. They get it. Their beverage & entertainment director brings them in thousands of $$ every March Madness because they support our Rare Bottle Share that week. Friends get drunk on our own high end beer (rather than comps from the casino), stay friendly with hostesses (need water between bottles, tip well), bet thousands at the sports book on the tournament, and lay a ton on the tables, rooms for the week etc. . .

Its why we stopped alternating our event between Reno and Vegas. . . we just do it every year in Reno, at the El Dorado now.

I think I need to make it up to Reno to tick that rare Michelob Ultra!

Reno's beer scene absolutely crushes Vegas'. I spend a lot of time in both cities, Reno>Vegas by a mile.
    -Craft
    -Old Bridge pub
    -brewers cabinet
    -st James
    -public house
...all better beer spots than anywhere in Vegas. Reno gets a much larger distribution of great brewries than does vegas, Great bottle shops too (Craft, Ben's)

Its included bc one of our long time "non BA" buddies drinks that stuff like water (er, wait?). Anyways, after seriously, about 100 Michelob Ultras during the week last year, the dude won over $6,000 playing Keno. Can't withhold the dude's good luck charm. I mean, Keno. . . probably the worst odds of any game at a casino short of betting against the Harlem Globetrotters (love that Simpson's episode):

Krusty's lawyer: So let me get this straight, you took all of the money you made franchising your name, and you bet it against the Harlem Globetrotters?
Krusty: Awwww. I thought the Generals were due!

Did you call Ben's a "great" bottle shop? Whoa. . .

Anyways, I don't think Reno "crushes" Vegas (unless you're talking about football). Better, sure. But you're short changing Vegas (rimshot).

I don't know anywhere in Reno I can drink super fresh Sculpin on tap, much less play shuffleboard, listen to live 80s buttrock. Plus, have you seen the hookers on 4th street in Reno? For shame Reno. For shame.

Suppose it depends on what you're looking for. Ben's on lakeshore (lakeside?) in Reno has a better beer selection than any store in the Vegas area. unless there's a better selection in Vegas than Khourey's? And the old bridge pub occasionally has sculpin, they do have a shuffle board table, unfortunately the music far inferior to 80s butt rock.

i moved to vegas from reno last summer. what does reno get thats not available in vegas? reno didnt even get green flash, bear republic or ballast point, all of which are all over vegas. between the 2 cities, aces and ales also had by FAR the best beer list ive seen in nevada

If you end up Downtown one of the casinos has a local brewpub inside I was really impressed with. Think it was Chicago Brewing. IPA was San Diego worthy.

I see you liked your time at Money Plays.

Really? You sure you did not have Big Dogs IPA?

Ccago makes good beer but their hoppy offerings are not very good.

Untappd tells me it was called Hardway IPA by Chicago Brewing Company. I don't remember much of those three days, but I do remember being very pleasantly surprised by the dry hoppiness of that beer.

Money Plays (Sculpin and Shuffleboard) + Aces & Ales (Sculpin and ButtRock) are solid destinations.

    The strip is lame.

And there are no San Diego worthy ipas made in the entire state of Nevada. Good, or even very good, does not make an ipa SD worthy (world class).

any particular one I should check out? I've probably been to 4 or 5 Lee's in Vegas/Henderson and none of them have had the selection that Khourey's in Henderson has. But maybe things have changed recently.

Lees are feast or famine! I've gone in there and found nothing. Other times I've walked in and found Firestone anniversary beers and abyss no limits just sitting on the shelves.
