Hey guys, so long shot but never know untill you ask right.... I am chasing some veil brewing beers.
I have been following there beer releases weekly and was wondering if there is anyway that I can get there beers in Aus.

I have had the pleasure of trying a couple collaboration beers that they have put out and they have been amazing to say the least. Unfortunately they just leave me wanting more .

I'm in Aus so there are a few brewerys that are definitely trending upwards, especially in regards to hazys.

I also have a fridge that is full of beer that I'm more then happy to trade. If anybody can help or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated

This is a bit old but still helpful.

Not going to sugar coat this but you have an uphill battle. Shipping to Australia is going is costly. Veil trades fairly well so most people are going to be looking for an equivalent. I can't speak to the state of Australia brewing but I can speak to the trade forums in that I haven't seen any Australia breweries FT. That's not to say it hasn't happened but the popular brews/breweries dominate. Now you may be in a unique position where you get lambics or one offs like ADWTD TO. While I wouldn't advocate trading the latter for Veil, the likes of Cantillon, 3F, etc will trade. If you have that sort of thing you have a better chance of success. One other important point is that I would not risk in the slightest shipping fruited veil more than a couple of days. Imo too much of a chance for a blowout. Perhaps others can chime in here with there experience.

I could probably get some good Lambics... How would 3F value in a trade for Veil beers?

I'm not sure the situation in Virginia (that's where veil is at I think?) But in my area 3F geuze, Armand & Gaston, and Golden Blend are on the shelves regularly so I'd imagine you would need something a bit more exclusive.than those. Your biggest hurdle is going to be shipping and finding something that can entice someone to pay the international shipping involved

    This ^ I'm afraid.

There are a lot of generous folks on BA, and some would probably try to help you out just out of kindness. But... Online international shipping costs are all over the map, but from what I can tell, it appears just a small, 8 lb. package is going to cost a minimum of a $100 US (from Charlotte NC to Sidney, for example). Much as I or someone else might like to help you out, paying a $100 or more just to ship you a 4 pack of Veil beer is probably going to be too rich for anyone's blood.

Good luck with this, but the reality is that unless you've got a close friend or family over here who's willing to help you out, or are willing to pay all the shipping costs yourself, it's unlikely that anyone is going to be willing to make a trade with you.

That very much depends on the beer. As with most Lambic, their standard releases (Oude Geuze, Oude Kriek, Cuvée Armand & Gaston) have little value and will generate little interest, as these are not that hard to find in the USA.

It's just their seasonals that have a high value because they are rather hard to find. Stuff like Schaarbeekse Kriek, Perzik, Speling van het Lot or of course the holy grail: Zenne Y Fontera. Maybe Hommage, Intense Red, Framboos or Golden Blend as well.

The reality of trading lambic is that standard releases don't cut it, you need the rare and exclusive stuff if you wanna get anywhere, especially if you want to trade internationally.

The reality of trading internationally is that it's only gonna happen for whale trades because of the high shipping costs. Forget trading for a couple of IPAs, it's just not gonna happen.

I think Australia gets a pretty good allocation of Blanton's Gold. If you can manage to get a few of those you might have luck. Though that all may change once it is released in the US this year.

Using the USPS international flat rate boxes it would be $81.75 to ship 8 cans (medium) and $107.05 to ship in the 12 range. Can fit up to 16 in the large box but they have a 20lb weight limit for international flat rates. I shipped 15 cans in one to France a couple of years ago without issue but I think it weighed over 20lbs based on my (crappy) kitchen scale.

Regular 3F and Cantillon do not show up in VA. They periodically appear in DC but they sell out or are far overpriced like much everything else in DC. I am inclined to believe even the run of mill bottles will trade for Veil but the trading thread would be a better place to discuss.

As @MKE_Hopspur stated, if you get Blanton's gold conditions change but once again I still believe shipping cost is the biggest hurdle.

    Good luck.

This isn't just about trade value though, there's roughly $100 in shipping on top of that, because it's an international trade. I doubt that many people will pay that much for regular bottles, but I could be wrong. I certainly never managed to entice anyone into a trade like that.

I agreed in the second part of my post, trying to get over the shipping cost is a hurdle and I stated this a couple times as did others

OK thanks for the info guys . Idid figure that shipping would be the biggest hurdle will have to see if I can find something interesting and rare by the looks of it.
