Velvet Merkin - Jersey Edition

It seems like any beer release that isn't through Hunterdon is just a shit show. So I'm not getting my hopes up on this one - just like Parabola.

 

(from personal experience) honestly it was a joke trying to get parabola in nj, and its not worth it for velvet either. im sure someone in cali would gladly trade you one, they still have parabola sitting on the shelves in cali, im sure if you find the right person you can secure more than one bottle no problem

 

On a similar note, has anyone seen Double DBA yet? Wasn't that supposed to be out last month?

 

Could have been this release. Unless I am mistaken, I think Parabola's release varied greatly depending on what part of the state you're in.

There wasn't much Parabola in SJ, though my distributor has a small territory but a lot of good stores in the Camden County area and some of Gloucester County. I think they had around 20cs to give out. I know we're on their list of top craft accounts for limited beers, so as long as they got more Merkin than they got of Bourbon County Coffee and Cherry (they got 5cs and 2cs of each) then we should get it. Will probably hold it for our Winter Beer Release Party. I remember my craft contact mentioning it a while ago, but no additional info yet on a date or how much will be available.

 

Are we talking about Velvet Merlin, or Velvet Merkin, which I'm not sure has ever been bottled before?

As we all know how things go ,this prob won't see nj till end of sept beginning of oct. lets hope for earlier then later.

 

They(FW) did give a number of cases but did they give a number on kegs? drink it on tap mane. You can have two pints

 

shit i don't think double dba has been moved around in NJ yet so i'd expect Merkin in Nov maybe later unless i'm missing something here

 

I have some bad news. According to my craft contact at my FW distributor, we won't being seeing Merkin until the new year. For now, the only beers FW is sending to NJ are the Union and Double Jack IPAs. The distributor was supposed to be getting FW's regular lineup (Pale Ale, Pils, etc.) sometime in October, but for some reason that has been pushed back until January and that includes everything but the Union and Double. This is the info I was given, though I was not given an explanation of why things are going to be this way. Sounds more like something on FW's end. Sorry everyone. Hopefully this will change.

At this point, I'd rather Nash give FW up and not distribute it at all until they can figure how the hell to get the stuff decently fresh. It's pointless seeing the same old bottles sitting on shelves because everyone knows how old the stuff is. Worst distributor in the state and this is only one of the many reasons.

Great beer, terrible distribution.

 

I disagree as I got 2 ish week old union and double jack last week in cherry hill, maybe not Nash down here?
