Anyone here about any FW Velvet Merkin hitting New England shelves yet?

Supposed to be like a month - even then good luck finding a bottle!

Redstone is getting it, I talked to the owner recently. He said that he will give us a 1 day notice of stock/limits via FB.

The latest word I got (this morning) was that there will be no Velvet Merkin coming to the northeast. When I asked if it was just the South Shore that wasn't getting it, I was informed that no one in MA was getting it at all. Granted, the person I spoke with isn't terribly high on the food chain but it was allegedly confirmed by someone quite high in the distribution company. So, technically still just hearsay at this point but it really sounds to me like we won't be seeing it.

I love FW beers and the folks I've met who work for them are great people but man, it's getting a bit tiresome being told that X beer will definitely be available in your territory and then when it comes down to it, nothing shows up.

How can a brewery just decide not to distribute a product to an entire region and think that their patrons will be ok with that? Makes no sense and is very disappointing.

If that's true it's pretty disappointing. I don't understand why FW distribution around here is so bad. They barely give us any of the limited releases and the small amount we get sells out almost instantly

Because they are too busy flooding their new markets with it. Founders does the same thing.

I emailed Firestone Walker and this is what I got:

Thanks for reaching out. Velvet Merkin will be arriving in MA and RI next week. Unfortunately NH will not be getting any due to their laws on high alcohol beers. But you should be able to get your hands on a bottle in MA.Please let me know if I can help with anything else!

Take it for what it's worth.

Okay so that would lead me to believe that Boston will be getting it. I'm glad to hear that it's coming to the state (though now that leaves me with a delightfully awkward conversation to have next week), I can only hope the South Shore gets a sniff at it.

Was just told today that 10 cases will be coming to MA. Yikes. So we're back on to "it's coming to MA!" I'm guessing next week I'll be told "it's not coming to MA!" Seems to be the pattern.

10 cases worth, it might as well not be arriving, one bottle for every 55,400 people in the state, awesome. But it's OK, it will be on the shelf everywhere for months in :insert state with new FW distribution:!

    Heard soon today...

Also an expansion of the regular FW line items besides just Union Jack and Double Jack sometime too.

The classic, purposefully ambiguous, "soon". Love it.
