Anyone have any recomendations of where to grab a beer? Have to be up there for work this weekend, and staying in Oxnard. Anywhere with good beer and good food. Maybe somewhere playing Ill Repute or In Control on the jukebox too?? (Maybe someone will get the nard-core reference)
surf brewery in ventura is okay and worth a look. they usually have a food truck. there's also a BJs around there with the typical widely distributed craft beers. if you're able to head north into the santa barbara area i'd strongly recommend hollister (best food/beer combo. you'll find IMHO).
Institution in Camarillo has the best beers in the area, I think they might do food trucks on the weekends too.
In addition to the above: Whole Foods' Rincon Bar (inside Whole Foods - Oxnard). You can eat the food you buy there (great stuff). Good selection. Yard House (Oxnard - same area as Whole Foods). It's a Yard House. Everything is OK. Anacapa Brewing (downtown Ventura). Great food, okay beer. Barrelhouse 101 (downtown Ventura). Good food. Lots of (101) taps. Social Tap (Pierpont area, Ventura - steps from the sand). Good food/beer. Also, Darryl's Couch (Camarillo) - No food (trucks sometimes). Good, almost exclusively CA beer. PS - Stop by Salzer's Records (Victoria exit off the 101) for your Nardcore fix. ;-)
