https://washingtonbeerblog.com/there-is-a-new-hop-in-town-and-her-name-is-vera/ Has anyone seen a beer yet with Vera hops? Interesting that GABF has created a category for beers featuring the hop, maybe anyone who has access to it is saving their allocation for release around the time the competition entries are due.
Lucky Envelope Brewing released a WCIPA last August with this new hop which was named HRC-003 at the time. It was my favorite IPA on rotation at the time and I hope to see more Vera hop IPAs soon!
Brewed a beer in collaboration with one of the two farms that grow Vera. It’s was still HRC003 at the time. Great hop. We used it in conjunction with 3 other hops from the same farm so hard to pinpoint exactly what its characteristics are but the bag smelled really nice upon opening. Of the four hops used in the beer (centennial, Amarillo, Crystal) it certainly stood out. Tropical candy on the nose but had this underlying spicey note that really balanced the fruit. By far the most impactful public variety to come out in a while. Maybe to date..
