Veritas 004 is a top want for me and my tasting group. I know this is not easy to track down, but I want to give it a try. Here are some things that I have: Cable Car 07 Izzy Cognac De Meurte Armand and Tommy I understand that there is the venn diagram issue with my first two, but am I in the ballpark? Any input on what this has recently traded for would be appreciated. Thanks!
I would imagine that the first vintage of Cable Car is in the ballpark, however, I'd say the other three aren't.
About a year ago, this is what I sent for a Veritas 004 and extras to make up for some of the dollar difference: Bourbon County Rare Chocolate Rain (first release) Bourbon County Vanilla 07 Bourbon County 08 Bourbon County 750ml growler of Ephraim Truth be told, the guy I traded with sent me killer extras that were big wants of mine, but you have to bring the big boys to the table. We were both happy I do believe.
FWIW, I wouldnt trade it for any of those. It's in that realm of American sour that can attract a hard to find Cantillon or Drie or other extremely rare American sour.
A growler of Zombie Dust back before it was bottled. An extremely, overly generous trader sent it to me after I told him I'd get the growler just to send it to him since it was on his wants. I had no idea what he was actually sending (though he hinted it was on my wants) until I received it. Needless to say I am still repaying him for his generosity.
My story is similar.... I got one as an EXTRA.... because the trader didn't have one of the bottles we had agreed on... I said no big deal, and he sends a Veritas 4 to say he was sorry. Awesome guy... but unnecessary and very appreciated generosity.
Though from what I've noticed, while AWAs tend to lose trade value with time, Cantillon/Drie Fonteinen tend to gain value.
Agreed. I have trouble pulling the trigger on any AWA that is over 2 or 3 years old, but will rabidly chase any lambic older than that.
