You could get draft Heady at hen of the wood in Waterbury. They have a bar, so you would not need to commit to a full meal. This would save you some travel time from Burlington all the way to Stowe.
Just to help the Hand Pulled Heady cause, the Warren Kitchen food truck @ Alchemist is pretty awesome Jamaican inspired cuisine. Jerk fried chicken w/ rice & beans was glorious.
I checked out Lost Marble Brew Co in Manchester over the weekend. Nice setup, above average brews, mostly IPA and lagers. Food was decent. Would definitely check them out again. I guess they’ve been open a few months now.
Does anyone know the status of Green Empire Brewing? They were a garage level operation, brewing and selling out of a space at Ft Ethan Allen They were canning and I saw some at Beverage Warehouse not too long ago
Went to Soulmate last summer. Pretty nice spot, owner was the barback that day, so chatted him up for a while. Lagers were their best offering. Food was on the good side of OK; it's a limited menu, mainly focused on different types of waffles (savory & sweet). Don't know if anything has changed since then, but we had a good time.
Popped in and out for cans last winter. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve had from them and the vibes at the brewery seemed high. Having my 11 year old in tow and it being dinner time prevented me from hanging out.
it’s the best beer I’ve ever had. Not the best beer experience (the alchemist taproom atmosphere, while nice, doesn’t quite have the allure of some other scenic VT breweries), but for a beer taste / mouthfeel / intangible perspective, it was amazing.
I’m a heady over focal guy through and through, but as far as draught alchemist goes, it’s Focal at Doc Ponds > Heady at Hen >>>>>>>>> hand pulled from the source. For me at least.
Anyone else remember DDH Heady and DDH Focal draft pours at Doc Ponds? I remember they told me it was going to be an every Friday thing (alchemist variants) but then it seemed to stop after a couple weeks. So good! That said, hand pull heady is my favorite!
that sounds vaguely familiar. I've never had DDH Heady, but have had DDH Focal a couple times and really loved it. But agreed, hand pulled Heady reigns supreme for me too.
Summer time! Sitting out in the Alchemist field with a hand-pulled while taking in the scenery... top-shelf!! Prost!!
Interesting article in Burlington’s Seven Days about the Vermont beer scene https://www.sevendaysvt.com/food-dr...-craft-brewers-brace-for-an-uncertain-future/ Fiddlehead (my local brewer) has done well for themselves. Cleared $40M last year and on track to be in the top 20
