I apologize about this redundant topic on here but am a "greenhorn" when planning trips. The Mrs. and I are departing from CT (6pm) to Vermont Friday Sept 2nd. Want to book a cheap place (suggestions?) in Stowe and go to Alchemist that morning. I then have no clue where to go next. The goal is to go to Hill Farmstead, Foam, Prohibition Pig, a package warehouse to pick up Lawson's, Ben & Jerrys and Foley Bros. as well as a good dinner spot. If anyone can help me with the best itinerary for those I would be much obliged.
Sat alchemist for opening drive to hillfarm, (could stop at lost nation for lunch?) back to Stowe/Waterbury area for dinner at pro pig Sunday drive up to Burlington hit foam. Lunch or dinner at the farmhouse shop church street with wife. check pearl street beverage and city market for bottles ( only Lawson's you may find will be super session) you should be able to find foley Bros, keep eye out for Frost bottles. tons more options... fiddlehead and pizza next door, pine street brewery crawl, four quarters in winooski, Burlington beer company in Williston
Here is a recent thread full of great information: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/burlington-vermont-trip.430984/ As far as a cheep hotel in Stowe on Labor Day weekend, that may be tough. Depends what your definition of "cheap" is. Best Western in Waterbury may be a cheap option.
Saturday Breakfast at Maxi's in Waterbury. Have a Heady with breakfast. At Alchemist by 10:00. Hopefully out of there by 11:00 (sounds do-able from the other thread). Stop at Lost Nation for a beer and a snack. You should be at Hill Farmstead by 1:00. Enjoy for a couple hours. On the way back, stop in Stowe and check out one or more of: Doc Ponds, The Bench, Crop Bistro, Trapp Family Lodge. Back to Waterbury for: Craft Beer Cellar, Prohibition Pig, Blackback Pub, and Reservoir. Can eat at one of those places or Hen of the Wood if you want something a little more upscale. Zzzzzzz Sunday Brunch at Penny Cluse Cafe in Burlington. Hit Winooski Beverage Center next. Then there's no shortage of breweries, bars, and restaurants to hit in the Burlington area (check Sunday hours - most don't open until noon): Foam, Fiddlehead, Vermont Brew Pub, Zero Gravity, Three Needs, Four Quarters, Magic Hat, Switchback, Queen City, Farmhouse, Mule Bar, Hotel Vermont, and any kind of restaurant you want. On second thought, you might need to stay in Burlington on Sunday night.
Someone on here should become a "Vermont Beer Trip" Travel Agent and start charging money to plan vacations for people. I am heading to Aruba in September. Do you think there is a Beach Advocate website where I can reach out to strangers and ask what I should do? I'm not good at using Google.
Seems like you got a bunch of great options in the previous posts. Only thing I will add is that if you want some SoS they have been selling cans at Beverage Baron in Barre on Saturdays starting at 7am (it lasted till 11 when I was there 3 weeks ago). They post this info on their facebook page. They also sell Heady at the same time if you want extra. Based on my experience and their facebook posts it is usually 2 four packs per person of each. I second (or third) that Lost Nation is a great spot to stop for lunch in between Alchemist and Hill Farmstead. Or Parker Pie a bit north of Hill Farmstead. I will also second hitting the von Trapp Lodge. Beautiful spot to have a traditional lager on their porch. I know they are making a new larger "brew pub" style restaurant. Not sure when that is opening though.
Thank you all for responding back! I really appreciate your time and effort helping me plan the Vermont trip. Luckily found a place in Stowe. Looking forward to all the recommendations and will try to fit in as many for Labor Day weekend.
