I'm making the Vermont /new England trip in a couple of weeks. What kinds of stuff can i usually find around this time of year, and what can I get for it in a trade. Thanks. Going to hf, Jack's abbey, treehouse, trillium and looking for alchemist and lawsons beers.

I hear most of those places make some pretty ok beer. Have you considered drinking it?

I guess I don't really understand the question ... you know where you are going, you are aware of all the best breweries in the region, so ... you want folks to speculate on what someone will offer you in a trade for these beers? Here's some speculation: in return for trillium and tree house and alchemist you will get: some other beers that are not as good.

I'm new and just don't know how this all works. Why is everyone being rude about it

I guess people are thinking, learn and enjoy the beer/breweries/bars/people first, then worry about trade value. Your post came off as kind of mercenary instead of looking forward to drinking some amazing beer in cool places.

I'd guess because you're asking for information that is extremely easy to find using the search bar in this sub forum. You're traveling to a region with some of the best beer in the world, don't worry about how much you can acquire just to trade it away, enjoy it and have a great time! VT is beautiful this time of year.

I had absolutely no intensions of coming off that way. Of course i'm going to enjoy myself. I just acquired my master's degree, and it's a grad present. I was getting ahead of myself and thinking about trading. I'm going to have fun there and get enough to bring back and keep for myself and a couple of close friends. I think people are misunderstanding my intensions.

That came off as a bit rude. Not sure if that was your intent. I do plan to drink some, if you must know.

It's all subjective. I'm not sure what the intent of your response was, but it sounded a bit rude. I think people are misunderstanding me. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of myself. I was just thinking ahead for future trade partners to boost my account and whatnot. Apologies.

I'll be in Vermont in a couple weeks, too. There's plenty of good information on this site about what is available. I've set my account to watch the New England thread to see the posts. I've looked at the places I plan to go to scout the prime options, food and beer-wise, and done some googling to learn more where this site is not comprehensive. Similar steps should yield some good information about what is available and where.

Just pulled off an excellent trip to VT last week. What a lovely state.

Thurs we got to Hunger Mtn Co Op just after noon, only to learn their Heady delivery came in 3 hrs early and was gone. But we got our 4 packs of Lawson's, as well as other VT - 14th star hoppy Amber in 16oz cans were aces.

Hit the mt Mansfield via toll road for a couple hours which was spectacular Vermont scenery.

From there went to Hill Farmstead for my first visit. Perfect weather and unbelievably scenic. Take a dirt road up to the place only to find they'd closed 20 min ago (I had 6pm in my head ...). No lines had been cleaned so they politely hooked me up. I took this opportunity to fill up. Growler of SOS#4, Susan and Edward. Magnums of Anna and Dorothy.

Was floored by Dorothy, enjoyed by campfire just south of Jay Peak.

Next morning hiked the Jay Peak summit. By the PM, the heady's had arrived via Maine and Lunch made an appearance. Finished Growlers and the obligatory Heady and it was on to the Widespread Panic show at Jay.

The show is covered by other message boards, but I'll say that the late set Narragansett lager Tallboy was possibly the best drink of the weekend.

On the way home hit the Worhty Kitchen. Couldn't handle another hop. But had an excellent Pilsner.

Took a quick stop at the queechee gorge which was worth the stop.

Summer season is here, if you want Heady or Sip then plan to go early to the places that get it. I got spoiled in the spring when those beers hung around for a bit but they are getting snapped up now.

My advice would be to go to Google Maps and work out a driving schedule (not sure how long you're going to be).

    Then ...

Just go to all those breweries if that's your intention. You won't have a bad experience at any of them and you're kind of getting the best of all worlds: City and (very) rural. They all do what they do as well or even better than most places in the country.

I'll echo someone else's sentiment who said, "You can trade anything you want from Tree House/Trillium/Jacks Abby/Hill Farmstead, you just won't get anything as good in return."

In terms of what you can find at each brewery it changes depending on the day/week. For the exact list you'll need to check their websites/twitter/facebook the week of your trip. That said, with the breweries you listed you can't really miss so grab the styles you like and whatever sparks your interest.

I suggested this in the other VT thread, but whichever brewery you go to, ask them about the Vermont brewery passport. It's totally free and pretty fun. You get a little cardboard 'passport' you can get stamped at all the places you visit.

if your going through Brandon stop in at Foley Brothers Brewery. It is a small craft brewery with some tasty offerings.
Easier to get too than others.
