Have there been any VT BA members meetups yet?

If not, or either way, thoughts on planning a low-key upcoming tasting event as a gathering for VT BA members?

    What say ye, fellow Vermonters?

Location has always been our biggest challenge. We had one earlier in the summer 20-30 people at Mt Philo State Park.

This is usually the amount of interested people as I have hosted a number of these. With BA growing in popularity I can see this number grow.

I would love to join in. Plus I currently have a growing list of pumpkin brews.

I am very interested and have more bottles than I know what to do with... Would not mind bringing 4 or 5 to a bottle share, if not just to make some shelf space! My only issue is transportation, but I can offer the substantially sized backyard I have here in Burlington.

I can do a sour meet-up in Nov. after the tourists head home and some of the local venues can use a bit of cash in terms of space rental. Have a couple of places in mind, but alas - no more use of Alchemist (Pro-Pig now) since they do lunches. Will ask around & post here. Cannot host a posted event at my house - insurance liability.
PS: The Beer Train is headed back to Brattleboro on Sat. Nov. 17th! We board the daily Ethan Allen AMTRAK at Waterbury at 9:30am and reach Bratt by 12:30pm. New Whetstone Brewpub right there by the station, and McNeil's just up the hill. Co-op has some good beer sales. They let us drink in the passenger car on the ride home - discreetly. Train departs Bratt after 5pm. The Vermonter RT Special ends in December, is $12 each way and can be booked using this link:

Hope to have some BA's along for the adventure!

I'll try to be around that weekend and muster up some of us Southern VT BA's to join in the fun.

Let me know once you've figured out the date and time and I can post the event info over at VTbeer.org and via twitter, maybe you'll get a few new VT beer enthusiasts.

    FYI

It's a long way off, but we have confirmed reservations for the picnic pavillion at Mt Philo state park for Saturday June 29th 2013 for our annual VT BA Summer Gathering. No excuses this time, plenty of notice. There are only a few campsites so if you want one of those I recommend reserving them soon.

Back to the original intent of this thread.

Is someone going to step up and put something together for November? I got no place to do it.

I wish my little apartment was big enough to host a gathering :slight_frown:

I would love to attend something like this. I know of a few other BAs that would defiantly be down too. Our cellars are growing and defiantly need to be condensed. Mt. Philo in June would be awesome but its a long way off. November would be cool.

I got shot down by the new tenants at our old Flynn Ave. space where Burlington Beer held their tasting - liability once again. Have a call into a private gallery space upstairs on College St. a friend suggested - waiting to hear. Probably won't be firmed up by November with the holidays coming up. How about a Christmas edition in early December if they're on-board? Sat. or Sun. afternoon/evening? That's about all I can come up with at this point.

Thanks for investigating. Feel free to keep us posted.

I might also have some leads for a private gallery-type space, if everyone is interested in doing something in Burlington proper?

I could do Burlington, for sure.

    Burlington would be just fine.

I have been down this road many times, the liability thing really make people less receptive to our cause.

OK, the gallery owners got back to me and are willing. Am going to take a look on Friday. Only drawback is it has only a bathroom sink for rinsing, so we will have to eat, drink & clean-up after ourselves with limited access to a sink, and all bottles will have to be removed - whatever you bring in, you take out empty or not. Food will have to be potluck and preferably of the snack variety - less to clean up, the better. There are a limited number of chairs, but several folding tables. You can always bring a camping chair with you. It is in downtown Burlington on College St., above street-level so that'll help avoid walk-ins. Once I see it I will re-post with possible dates and what it will cost. A Sat. or Sun. afternoon, like 1-4pm? End of Nov.? Early Dec.?
