Vertical Epic 3 liter bottle?

    As a person with zero beer knowledge, especially beer collector knowledge, I thought this would be a good place to pose this question (please let me know if I'm in the wrong place).

    A friend of mine was a big fan of the Stone Vertical Epic 12/12/12, and recently for his birthday he received their enormous and special 3 liter bottle. Should he save it for a possible future sale (will value skyrocket?) or should he just drink it?

    It probably will never be worth more than he paid for it. Especially since the beer inside isn't all that great.

    Beer inside is mediocre. If friend is a big fan of the beer, just drink it. He received it as a gift anyways. Flipping a gift is pretty cold.

    I say drink it, and maybe save the bottle since big bottles are kind of cool showpieces

    There are at least 3-5 places around Boise that still have them on shelves.

    I would suggest drinking it at some sort of special tasting in the spring.
