Is it ok if I keep bottles on their side? My only cellaring option is probably getting a wine fridge so I may have no other option.

How long are you planning to age them? Also are they corked or capped?

I have a wine cooler and removed most of the shelves and added glass panels on the remaining shelves, then stood the beers upright. For the non-corked/stouts I don't mind lying them down on one of the shelves to maximize space.

Thanks for the help! Most of them are not corked.

Some of them could be a 3-5 years.

If possible I would leave them upright. But since most caps (or all?) are lined with that plastic layer - I think you should be fine laying them down for 3 -5 years.
    Cheers!

Even with modern bottle caps I would still be hesitant to lay them on their side. I have come across bottles with rusting around the cap that I know were stored upside down.
