Question for Vancouver folks. I just opened a bottle of Belle Royale from this year and it was very off. I loved it last year - one of the big pleasant surprises of the year for me. Is my experience of this year's isolate or have others had issues with the beer?

What do you mean by off? I didn't had last year's so I can't compare, but the one I had from this year wasn't "off" by my standards, maybe needing a few months ageing, but not off.

    Maybe a bad bottle?

No cherry aroma or flavor, a little putrid / infected tasting, none of the sweetness I remember from last year. I remember it tasting very distinctly like dark sour cherries. That was not what it tasted like. I know it was a bad bottle having had it last year. I was just curious if others had the same experience ... reason I'm curious is I've sent some folks bottles and I'd like to make sure I check with them if it's quasi commonly infected. Second reason is that if this is an isolated instance, I'd like to track down another bottle since I really enjoyed it in the past.

Nah, probably the beer. It wasn't very good this year.

That opinion doesn't seem to be shared by most who felt that with a bit of aging this was a great batch

I shouldn't have to do more aging on a aged beer. IMO Bell Royale has never been decent when they tried to 'sour' it.

Hey guys, so I wanted to bring this back to life. I started following 33 acres and bellswood on Instagram. 33 acres really because of their rad ceramic growler and well constructed photos, and then I gained interest in Canadian breweries....

Anyways, I wanted to reach out and see if anyone up north spends time on the US side of the border and wanted to set up an in person trade or something. I travel to Seattle for work about once a quarter and would love to get my hands on some good north of the border beers!
