Victory Dirt Wolf in WI?

I haven't seen it yet, but it seems like we don't get Victory offerings until they're getting old. I didn't see any Swing until months after it was released....same for Summer Love. I can't recall ever seeing any Headwaters less than two or three months old. Might just be my experience, or indicative of how the distributor is handling the beer.

 

It's coming...heard they want to clear out more of the Hop Wallop first.

 

Talked to the Distributor in La Crosse, said we are getting in soon, also a Ranch IPA for the winter.

 

I hate when we get into this cycle of old beer. Which I suspect may be why Stone and DFH pulled out of WI. "We can't put out Dirt Wolf until all the Hop Wallop is sold." So they let the what is now old Hop Wallop sit on the shelves, then by the time they finally put out the new replacement beer, in this case Dirt Wolf, it's already 2-3 months old, despite the fact the distributor received it's allotment months ago. Then nobody buys the beer because it's already old. It's a vicious cycle.

 

WI people really like there NG, CW, Ale Asylum and others... Out of state breweries seem to have a hard time hitting it big here... Except for the exceptions like Lagunitas, Bells and huge craft breweries like SN and Boston Beer.

 

Quite a bit of old Wallop on the shelves in Madison. Who the hell will drink it?

 

FYI, this made a pretty decent return this week in Madison. Rileys got 4 cases. I'm drinking one tonight and it seems even better than when it made its initial appearance weeks ago. It is big and juicy with a nice grapefruit finish. Sensational.

 

Some arrived in the Milwaukee area last week. I picked up a 4 pack for around $10. I thought it was completely disappointing. The carbonation was almost non-existent, and the flavor was nothing special. Not very hoppy for a DIPA. I've yet to have a good beer from Victory, so I wasn't too surprised that this one was bad too.

 

Weird, the bottle I had last night produced a 3 finger head and rivaled Zombie Dust in juicy, grapefruit hoppiness. I ramped up my score from 4.16 to 4.64 it was so damn good. They must still be having batch variation issues.

 

I must just have bad luck with that brewery or something. The other time I tried them was a 12-pk variety that included Hop Devil and a few other of their bigger brews, and every single one of them was completely terrible. We barely made it through each flavor and the rest we had to "donate". Seems strange for a brewery that's supposedly popular.

 

One of the better new DIPAs I have had in a while. Worthy of the hype.

 

Dirtwolf Rules, but everyone has different tastes maybe something in there yeast strain you find off putting?

 

Found some in Woodman's West if any Madison residents are still looking for it.

Woodmans in Appleton had some Friday.

 

What I really want now is some Hop Ranch.

 

If anyone is headed to DLD and wants to meet up on Friday before hand. I can bring some DirtWolf or Hop Ranch fresh from the brewery, assuming they have it.
