The Truth has a bit more sharp bitter hop bite. Dirtwolf definitely has a more round hop finish. The Truth should definitely be involved in the "affordable, year-round DIPA" conversation though. It has quickly taken the lead in my hoppy beer rotation. If they can maintain the $11.99/6-pack price and expand to their whole dist. footprint it will be a hard beer to top. There will certainly be better beers, but in terms of taste/price/availability I think The Truth will be a major success, and I really don't like many Flying Dog brews.

I like Sucks way better. Dirtwolf is a good beer, but I believe it is lacking in a stickiness/resin factor. unrelated im happy to report that word on the street is a bar near my crib is going to have Brown Sugga on tap in a couple weeks!

I can't tell if "cat piss bomb" is a good or bad trait.

I will be having my first Dirtwolf tomorrow night. Had my first Myrcenary last night. That beer is amazing. I'll be happy if Dirtwolf tops that.

Obviously a side-by-side would be the way to go here, or maybe a poll when they're both regularly available, but from memory I was definitely more wowed by DirtWolf than Sucks. Both great beers though. It's a good time to be a hop head!

So now cat piss is a positive attribute in beer? And just when I was getting acclimated to horse blanket...

Of course Sucks is a (distant) memory.

I love DirtWolf and if I had to chose right now, DirtWolf would be my choice.
I am looking forward to doing a side by side soon

Sucks all the way, super smooth balanced beer with great aroma, color and taste of course. Wish it was a year round brew it would be in my cellar and fridge constantly. No offense to Victory Dirt wolf great dipa but just not quite comparable to sucks but both great beers individually.

Am I the only one who isn't wowed by Sucks? Nice IPA, but not something I crave. I would like to try Dirtwolf though, if it makes its way to WA state.

If Dirtwolf is more "piney & resin" as some have mentioned...who wants that? THIS GUY!!! <pointing to self>:grinning:

I'm with you, rab53. I wanna try this one, seriously. I've never been a HUGE fan of Sucks. It's fine, but nothing to write home about.

I haven't had a chance to try Dirtwolf and don't have access to it :slight_frown:
But I have a hard time thinking it can compare with it

The next wave of phrase you'll hear on BA ''the stout was good but didn't quite have the punch of (insert beer). That one was a dog crap bomb!!!''

You should add Ithaca's The Creeker to that comparison. =) Just to make it interesting.

I enjoy DirtWolf, more so now than my first pint. It took a little warming up to me, before I actually gave it a chance. But in no way is it as dank and oniony/cat pissy as Sucks. To me its like trying to point out similarities in HT versus Ruination or Double Trouble...they are just two well made examples of the style, but at different ends of the spectrum. Both are very good, but in my humble opinion, albeit highly regarded  , Sucks is by far the better of the two.

Since when is Hop Stoopid a world beater????? It's an average IPA that is sold at a very cheap price.

I only had Sucks once, so I can't compare them. That being said, I love DirtWolf and love that it's local and I'll be able to get it anytime during the year.

Agree that its hard to make definitive judgement without being to have them side by side, but all I can say is I typically go through a case or two of Sucks when it comes out, and have only bought a 4-pack of DirtWolf and am not really interested in buying any more right away. I wanted to really, really like it and buy a case of it, but just thought it was OK. Obviously to each his own, but in my opinion, it does not deserve to be compared to HT, Enjoy by, Sucks and other top DIPAs.

I actually agree that hopstoopid is an amazing beer with great price point. Its a world beat in the way that if you had cheap labor that could build amazing products you could answer all of the questions.
