I really did not enjoy Dirtwolf when I tried it a few months ago. Very unbalanced and boozy.

if it isn't the best DIPA on the east coast it's the best value. 9.99 for a four pack. its a joke

Props to Victory for doing their homework. The beer community absolutely loses their mind over "new" beer. Replace one outstanding DIPA with another that's "new" to the block and you've placed yourself back on the beer geek map.

Yeah Dirtwolf totally kicks ass. I always recommend it to customers at my store. I think I would take a fresh Hop Ranch over it though, none the less it helps Victory wear Big Boy pants which I am happy about

That explains all the praise it gets.

I also agree its the best bargain and probably in my top 5 favorite beers. Cases are 38$ by me so I usually grab one every few weeks. I've had great west coast IPA's but the East Coast is killing it right now. Didn't like Hop Ranch as much as Dirt Wolf. Fell off too soon and becomes real oniony. I liked Hop Ranch a lot better when it was just Victory Ranch Ipa on draft.

I had DW (bottles) when it first came out and was just so/so about it. Months later I tried it on draft and loved it. Hop Ranch was good to me...for the first bottle, and then after that I was done with it; HR, Sucks, Chillwave, etc., are beers my palate (and in some cases more importantly, my nose) just does not jive with too well and I like them at first but by the time I finish the beer, I am usually good for a while.

But thanks to this thread I decided to grab a 4-pack of DW again and I definitely enjoyed the bottle way better than the first bottles I had. Great beer and for the money, a nice choice for sure! I doubt I will be drinking DW all of the time but when I am in the mood for a DIPA, it's as good of a choice as any.

First time poster, long time lurker.

My girlfriend and I have a rule that if either of us are in the liquor store and see DirtWolf we must buy. At Canal's down the street it's $7.99/4 pack and with my NJ Craft Beer Club membership it takes $1 off. Unbeatable at $6.99/4 pack.

Four pack?!? I buy it by the case. I am not sure if there is a better beer considering teh three factors of 1) taste, 2) price and 3) availability. Maybe DFH 90 beats it, but that's about it.

I can't get Victory here, so I'll drown my sorrows in the case of Hoptimum bottled a couple weeks ago that I just picked up.

$10/6 here in NY for a proper IPA is a damn good deal, too. Kudos.

I won't speak about the beer, but I know the California education system isn't what it used to be.

The problem with Hop Wallop was it sat around at distributors forever and was normally 3-6 months old when it hit shelves. To simply change the best by date on Hop Wallop which was 1 year would probably have meant dumping the old existing stock. Sometimes it is just easier to give up on something than to ride a dying horse into the dirt.

dirtwolf is ruining beer shopping for me. "could try that beer for $10~12 a bomber... or could buy dirtwolf, which i'm 95% sure is better, for $9 a 4pk. let's see, is it fresh? bottled a couple weeks ago. want to try new things... but... ahhhh!!!"

    it's a ticker killer.

what's the date range for DW? is it 5 or 6 months? have seen 4-packs with both the august best-by and sept best-by recently and was wondering how fresh they are.

They're the same here. Sculpin is $15/6 and DirtWolf is $10/4.
