Interesting. Well I'm headed over there shortly. I'll report back if I can.

According to Victory's twitter page, they just sold out at Downingtown location, but still available at the other 2. Will be up in PA for Thanksgiving and was hoping to stop in there and grab some, looks like that's out of the question now. Damn, if they sold out that quick, maybe full case allotments were too much??? Although I guess from Victory's perspective they sold it all quick and easy.

Yeah, and their Twitter feed also had pictures of people lined up this morning before they opened.

Sorry Victory, but no beer is worth me standing in line for.

The glass I had on draft tasted remarkable. 15.80 plus tax a bottle. My opinion is that it is as good as KBS, BCBS (coffee) if not better.

I know it may be fruitless to challenge your opinion, since I have not tried the Java Cask yet, but I find it very hard to believe that with Victory's lukewarm efforts at barrel-aging, out of the blue this beer not only competes with the GOATs listed above, but surpasses them? I have no choice but to chalk this up as sensationalized beer journalism.

Agreed, but since they obviously used a "bigger" base beer for this rather than Storm King, I don't see any reason why it can't be better than Dark Intrigue.

Arrived at Downingtown around Noon. Sold out. They advised going to Parkesburg which has "70 cases". Drove there and bought 3 bottles ($15.90 each). Had a taste at the tavern: Pretty damn nice! BTW: Guy at the retail store thought these would not make it to beer stores, etc. Not so sure about that, but I bet they'll be pretty hard to find.

I have to disagree. Double entendres aside, I don't think bigger necessarily means better. I do hope that this beer is as good as people say, as I have a few in my car awaiting consumption.

Probably just a low level employee not knowing what they're talking about. Victory twitter confirmed yesterday that it would be sent throughout their footprint.

I think that more often than not, bolder stouts tend to hold up better to whiskey barrel aging.

I was just saying their isn't any obvious reason that would prohibit it from being good. It could also be worse, who knows?

haha! I hope you come back supporting the other person's claim that it's just as good as KBS and BCBS. But come to think about it, if Goose Island was one of the first to barrel age beer and get it right, there's no reason why in this day and age Victory cannot also brew a world class barrel aged beer. We'll just have to see. I know I'm certainly enjoying all the breweries jumping on this band wagon. Always down for this stuff

Had this today in Downingtown. I definitely agree it's up there with kbs and bourbon County. They were sold out of the bottles but I got a growler filled for like 18 bucks. Awesome stuff.

If this sold through this quickly, I can only imagine what the Kane release will bring. Now I understand it was case limit, but I can't believe anyone outside of 30 miles drove to this.

I like Java Head, but I am always scared when a place puts a case limit. Wouldn't you prefer to sell it over say a couple of weeks and bring more people to your location by putting a more reasonable limit on it? I think their strategy for Dark Intrigue was purposeful. Get it out and sell through QUICKLY.

Hope everyone enjoys it who made it out to Victory today.

I meant to say Victory and not Java Head in my last post but I can't edit. Sorry, I am not drinking yet today.

Got there at noon. Sold out. Got sample. Tasted great. Def worth it, if I were only able to purchase bottles, and comparable to BCBS coffee. Very smooth for 14% and very bitter I could get bottles

I stand by my comment and am confident more people will agree with it then disagree.
