I will be buying this. Victory crushes IPA's. In fact, I'm going to pop a dirtwolf after work. Just because.

I will try. I would be surprised if it is the only IPA I'll ever need. If that is true, it better be easily available and made year round.

    Mr. Ranbot,

Permit me to ask you a personal question. Would you prefer a new IPA from Victory in cans or DirtWolf in cans?

    Cheers!

This is a curious move indeed. IPAs sell so well, I wonder if it's simply a matter of make as many as you can and you'll increase sales by default, especially if you excel at making them.

From a pure sales standpoint though, I'd think it would make more sense to work on making more session IPAs. Perhaps they could mimic the success of Founders and make 15 packs. I also feel people obsess less over the freshness of a session IPA.

Personally, unless this is some ground breaking IPA, there's no need for me to buy this. Not only do I have fresher local options that are world class, I have IPAs that are very highly rated that I have easy/regular access too that I enjoy (Sculpin, Union Jack...etc.).

Put a gun to my head and I'll probably say a new IPA but only because I usually prefer regular IPAs to DIPAs. But honestly neither Vital or Dirtwolf interest me enough to buy them over many other beers on the shelf, cans or otherwise. I'll probably see it on tap locally, and get a draft here or there, but unless it's something groundbreaking that's probably going to be the extent of my purchases. I like Victory and like to support them, but so far this doesn't do anything for me. I'm probably in the minority there though... whatever.
I also suspected that in the current market just putting a new IPA out there increases sales by default. I'm not going out of my way for yet another IPA with citrusy american dry-hopping and a partial pilsner malt* bill. This was unique 5 years ago, but there are too many now and they all sort of blend together... I'm over it.

*I'm assuming it's a pilsner malt based on their statement of "German malts," and it's the popular thing to do these days with IPAs.

I hope this is good, but I wasn't impressed with the Moving Parts series. Would much rather see Hop Ranch cans.

How could anyone have a negative response to this without trying it?

sounds awesome. amused by the "hopsession" pun (get it? you're obsessed with low ABV hoppy beers? obsession/session??? GET IT?????); the puns have grown so strong that they're sprawling beyond the name into the Slogan™.

anyway, dirtwolf and hop ranch are amazing. why not this?

HOPDEVIL uses German Malts, none of which are Pilsner

Fair enough. We'll see if my hunch about Vital having a partial pilsner malt bill pans out.

Even if people are crazy about it about it. Let me start it: "Why aren't you putting Dirtwolf in 16 oz cans????????"
