After watching a video in @Crusader 's post in the Bayern Bier thread... ...I noticed that one of the "suggested videos" was about Wippra Brauerei. Those of you who have seen me post know that their Kellerbier is one of my all time favorite German brews (unfortunately not highlighted below). Anyway here is the video. I thought many of you might enjoy the old-timey brewing set-up, as well as the guest who doesn't know what a Dopplebock is. Language is 100% Deutsch, but I think still worth checking out for you non-Deutsch speakers.
The Braukaiser (a fairly well-known homebrewer) posted a couple of recipes that are based on Wippra beers. Very cool place. EDIT: the Ossi accent that brewer has is awesome.
~30 minutes by car, according to Google maps. Are you ever near there? I myself have never been, but one of Die Frau's Mitarbeiters lived up that way and once in a while would bring me some of their brews when he went back home. That's how I got to try their Kellerbier.
I just wanted to make sure I was looking at the right place. It seems that there are a lot breweries with the same names in different parts of Germany.
Dude who claims that no other German brewery operates in the same traditional way has apparently never heard of Schmitt Brau in Singen. Still, very cool that there are still places like this/these. EDIT: also...yea...kind of an unfortunate name for the Doppelbock, oder? Wipprator (cracked my wife up)
