I am looking to trade in the near future for some vintage BCBS and I want to clear up a few things.

    1. What is the specific bottling date/s for 2007 bCBS made in PvW barrels?

    2. What is the last year bottles used twist off caps?

    3. Was 2009 the only vintage that came in 22oz bottles? It was also on 12oz I assume?

    4. Are there any specific bottling dates from any vintages known to be infected?

If you have any other noteworthy and nfo about vintage BCBS please leave it here, and thanks!

    1. 10/12/07. I started a thread asking this very question and that was the answer I received. I have a bottle of this on the way, in fact.
    2. Unsure.

    4. They may be infected, one can never tell. The safest thing to do is send a bottle of each to me. I can handle infected beer and will post the results. Please BM me for shipping info. I will even send a shipping label!

    1. 10/12/07
    2. 2006 or 2007 i believe. I know for certain 06 is twist cap (also, i wouldnt trade for 06 -- every one i have had is oxidized)
    3. Yes. only 22 oz vintage, but also came in 12 oz too
    4. Bramble ...but no

IMO, best BOTTLED versions are (and remember, this is subjective and ignores COST to acquire), by tier, ASSUMING PROPER CELLARING:

    Superior, world class:
    • Rare
    • Vanilla
    • 07 Pappy
    • 08 BCS
    • 07 BCS
    Delicious/excellent:
    • '11 Coffee
    • 11 BCS
    • '10 Coffee
    • 10 BCS
Still a bit hot, but tasty:
    • 09 BCS
    Good, but nothing mind blowing:
    • Bramble
    Over the hill:
    • 06 BCS (and presumably earlier bottles)

Actually, it looks like I ranked '10 coffee above '11 BCS I guess

I've only opened one of my 08 so maybe you are right. I know 08 is last label year before change and that 09 is for sure NOT screw top

That is correct. In 2009 they switched from the white labels to the black, and they switched from screw-caps to pry-caps. 2009 is the first year for both of those changes.

Yeah I was pretty certain 07 was screw top . Not sure how I've never noticed 08 was as well
