I tried a '07 recently and think ivevcome across my first BCS that was starting to "muddy up" a bit. The '08, '10, and of couse '11 are still drinking just fine!

Based on what you guys have seen as far as age goes how do we think the 2012 will age? As good as others? Any potential to be a show stopper at future vertical tastings?

I have yet to try the 2012 yet. Hope to in the next couple weeks as an awesome BA is hooking it up! I would guess though by having tried many of the other vintages, and the fact that it's 15%, it will hold up very very well for years to come.

Another question, do all the 2010 caps not have a GI logo on them and are just black? Any reason they are different?

just going off of memory, the 08-11 are just black, logo doesn't show up until '12.
07 on back are twist off.

This is correct. 2010 BCBCS is black, but 2011 Coffee has the "Bourbon County" logo. BCBVS, Rare, and KH are all black too. Bramble has the "Bourbon County" logo.

'07 and '08 have the Goose emblem on them. I just noticed '10 didn't, so thanks.

My 08 bottle has this cap: [IMG]

I may be wrong, but I could have sworn the 09 12oz bottle was a twist, definitely not the 09 22oz...

had an 08 bcbs an 09 bcbs bomber and an 08 abyss last night. The ba I drank with loves bcbs like myself but the abyss def won. It had agreat head, a lot going on flavor wise and had smoothed out nicely. The bcbs 08 was completely flat and def had some oxidization issues. the 09 was a lil better but not by much. once it becomes oxidized this stellar complex beer becomes one dimensional and boring...Needless to say I really felt the wax on the 08 abyss helped a ton, and from now on beers Im holding onto over two years will get waxed. I like bcbs with about a year- year and a half on it. It's still complex yet mellowed just right.

09 and 08 were twist offs but you still had to use a bottle opener to open??? Theyre crimped caps but the bottle has those swirls(for lack of a better word) in the glass where the cap goes for twist offs. Kinda odd.

I'm pretty sure that the 08 (bottle date 10/27) is a black cap, the rest have the goose

I am unsure, but would bet Peter's life that the the 08 has the goose.

    I recognize that background...

Please tell me more about this 10-27-08 batch. My curiosity is torqued.

I thought some of them had Bourbon County written across the top. When I get home I will take a pic of the line up.

the 08 I had just last night has that goose and says goose island on the cap. Im assuming whoever did this graphic just left that off? wait... why do the caps matter?

Based on correspondence with this gentleman outside of Goose Island (who may or may not be the owner). I believe the '08 10/27 bottle date was brewed with vanilla and a significant amount of molasses.

08 has absolutely started the oxidize (unsurprising given the twist off cap). Both the 07 and 08 were good, but noticably oxidized compared to the 09. Drink them sooner rather than later.
