Has anyone been to this in previous years? I'm wondering if it's worth it, as presale for it ends tomorrow. I can't really find any info from people who attended it in the past.
I just found a list for last year, and it's not really that impressive: http://threebzine.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/vipbrewers.jpg I'll have to look out for that Rare Beer Breakfast though. Thanks for the heads up!
Tickets are on BPT already actually, just found it this morning, mostly because you mentioned SDBW so I figured I would look into it. So thanks for that. No menu on the food nor beer posted as of yet, but I have yet to be disappointed. Plus I mean, it gets me out of the office on a friday morning to go enjoy, usually, crepes and some nice brews.
I went last year. Got a combo ticket which was good for the Friday night Brewer's Take Over and early admission on Saturday. I took the train from Los Angeles, stayed in hotel walking distance to the train station and the festival. It made for a really nice car free weekend. Both events were worth attending, but of the two, I enjoyed Friday night more. Its smaller than the Saturday event both in crowd size and number of brewers pouring beer. But the beer they poured tended to be better. The event came with unlimited pours, free food and glassware instead of Saturday's plasticware. I was planning on going this year, but it conflicts with Shelton Bros "The Festival" in San Pedro. I have an all day Sat pass for that. I will probably go to SDBW Guild Fest next year, and if I do, I will go both Friday and Saturday. Definitely worth it to me.
I'm going to the Guild Fest on both days, but I'm also really interested in going to the rare beer breakfast from Stone. I'm staying in the Gaslamp District, but since driving to Stone is not an option (no DD =/), do you have any advices for me on how to get there?
Uber would get you there but I cannot say it would be cheap since that is quite the distance. Sadly getting out of downtown into the northern and eastern part of san diego sucks since we don't relaly have great public transit that heads eastbound. Best bet would be a long uber ride from gaslamp or else coaster ride from Santa Fe Depot up to one of the Carlasbad stops and then an uber ride from there. Time would be longer but quite a bit cheaper since coaster tickets are about $10-$13 round trip. Again though, maybe others that live more downtown have better ideas. I am pretty much stuck in the middle of the county so my knowledge of other public transit options is drastically limited.
